I haven't had time for a full trip report but I have been wanting to share this.
Short version of the story:
All week long my 4 yo son kept asking if he could meet Mickey and ride some rides with him. We had to keep telling him that Mickey doesn't ride many rides as he's very busy meeting people for pictures. We were headed over to Mickey's house in toon town so my 4 year old could meet Mickey on our last night. It was also my wife's birthday and she was kind of bumming as women do every time they become a year older...
So... We headed over about 10:30PM. Extra Magic Hours were until 2:00AM that night. As we approached Mickey's house a cast member was walking out. I asked him if Mickey was still taking pictures and he said "No, Mickey is taking a break until 12:30AM. I pointed to my two strollers and my 2 sleeping boys and said "Bummer, it's our last night and we promised my 4 yo that he could meet him." My wife was looking pretty sad because she knew he would be disappointed. The guy looked at my wife and kids and said "Today is your lucky day, I'm out here looking for Disney's First Family (never heard of it) and you're it" He explained to us what would happen. He gave us a precise time at which to be in a specific place and Mickey and Minnie came out to meet the boys! Security escorted us with Mickey and Minnie to Dumbo where the kids rode with the Characters, then we were to escort them to the Castle for pictures.
This is the the wife with the 1 yo and Mickey and the 4 yo with Minnie... I was in the Dumbo in front trying like mad to snap as many pictures as I possibly could with my pocket digital (if only I had the D70 and flash).
My wife's birthday instantly became one of the best she'd ever had and I have a renewed feeling of what a happy place it can be.
PS: The whole trip was amazing with two birthdays and my 16 yo's first visit. but it would be a huge trip report.
