Blizzard Beach in late December?

Hi all! Is the weather warm enough to go to Blizzard Beach in December? We will be there from Dec.20-27th and wonder if I should plan a day for BB~ any advice would help. :-)

I wouldn't do water park at Disney that time of the year. We did Discovery Cove and it wasn't even 70* on 12/21. I don't recall it getting that "warm" down there at Christmas at all in the past 5 years.

And rightly so. Florida is great, but December, that can go either way. We had some days this year that were 40s, and believe me, growing up in the north, I'll take a cold Michigan 20 over a Florida/Coastal 40 anyday. That kind of wet damp cold is inescapable. We were blessed to have some days that were 75 this year, but that was just time for me to stop bringing jackets. Definitely NOT water park material. And even in January, I'm not convinced they should be open then either. I don't think Adventure Island opens until March...

Both water parks are closed from November 1-December 31 so they took care of that for you.

Park operating hours are showing Blizzard Beach open from 10-5 all days of our trip and TL shows it's in refurb. Where do you see that both are closed? Although it looks like it doesn't get warm enough to go anyways.

When I booked my trip in late Dec it told me, also would not allow us to buy the water park options on our tickets. Also shows you here:

Thanks ScienceDad! CM added waterparks and more to our tickets 2 weeks ago but I'm going to get that removed. Won't need it for the waterparks and kids don't care for Disney Quest or miniature golf.

It also depends on what kind of temperature you are used. Before I moved down here from Minnesota I was happy to swim at the water parks and the ocean in December. Now that I've lived in Florida for two+ years, I would freeze my heinie off.

So yes, as a Minnesotan I would swim in December. As a Floridian, I wouldn't swim in December.

Thanks everyone! That makes planning even easier.:thanks:
Better choice there. I think the warmest I have seen it in December was maybe 75, the coldest I have seen it snow at Christmas in Florida....so you never know what you will get. At least with Discovery Cove we had the heated water to go into.

As far as I know, it's never been the case that both water parks have been closed at the same time, except on days when it's too cold for swimming. I would trust these calendars more than what's showing on the Disney website:

Thanks siskaren! That was the calendar I was looking at when I started planning. :)
