On the way there, we stopped for our first food of the trip: Chili’s!

Wingnut: You are not taking food pictures yet. The trip hasn’t started yet. We haven’t even left our state.

Me: Oh yes, the trip has most certainly started. We’ve left home…let the pictures begin!

Love this! One time at the Flying Fish, my mom and I were taking photos of our plates, and the server says that it's always the biggest compliment to the chef when people take photos of the food. I was just thinking, "You obviously haven't met many trip reporters. We take photos of EVERYTHING - from the plates at Flying Fish to the wrappers at McDonald's."

I was also laughing at your secret banana messages...I'm gonna have to try that.

Can't wait for the next update!!

What was Wingnut thinking? Of course, the trip has started....it starts the minute you step out the door! I had heard of the writing on banana trick but have never tried it. Too bad his Dad didn't have more of a reaction.

It seems that you and I have very similar packing methods! Although in addition to the pacing and list making, I also find 73 other things that I MUST DO.

I agree with everyone else, it's not too soon to start snapping photos of your food when you are enroute to your destination. Yummy southwest egg rolls and chipotle fajitas. Yummmm..... I took photos of my food in Vegas but then realized I was at a client dinner. Oops!

Looking forward to reading all about your hilarious adventures because I know there are more waiting for us!

Oooh, that banana/toothpick thing sounds like fun! I don't think bananas stick around long enough in our house for the message to show up, but I think I'll try it anyway.

I've only been to Chilli's once (I know, I know!) and I was kinda disappointed, but put avocado in anything and I'll eat it!

It seems like the riper the banana is, the quicker the message shows up. When we wrote on those, the words came up pretty much instantly!

I am with you on that avocado philosophy!!
