Hi, all - I wanted to post about the recent event I did and compare to the one I did 1 1/2- 2 years ago. Bottom line, I no longer think this is such a great value unless you are a biiiiiig cocktail drinker. The food has really gone downhill, IMO - sorry to be a bummer.
The menu updates included pork katsu sandwiches (I love pork katsu, but these were a no for me, just dry and weird flavor), chicharrons (not a fan so didn't try), zucchini focaccia (or similar, I think). Sushi was no longer plated so guests could take jut the rolls they wanted - rather, there are 3 tiny rolls - Cali roll, spicy tuna, and argh, cannot recall the third - crammed onto a plate, so if you wanted spicy tuna, you basically had to take a bunch of plates of the 3 and just pick through them. Shrimp tempura roll was one of my faves last time, and it was axed. No more lobster bisque. The sashimi was the same, but the slices are tiny now. Sliders, goat cheese ravioli, smoked salmon crostini, and shrimp cocktail were the same and still good. Desserts are the same, I think, but the desserts were never my jam.
There may still be some value here for people, but be sure you are looking at the most recent updates!
The staff is wonderful, btw. I left a large cash tip for the bartenders, who never let my glass get anywhere close to empty
!
[As an aside, I have done lots of events solo - and perfectly happy to be that way - and for some reason, this is always the only one that seems to attract people's attention. One woman came over to me and asked if I was - not kidding - "all by yourself." Um, why yes. I am. And it is fine, for real. I like myself! She was so distressed about my alone-ness that she invited me to sit with her and her friend 3 times, which I know came from a kind place, but just...thank you, no. Something similar happened last time, as well. But this side note likely doesn't apply to very many of you, just thought a few would get a lil' kick out of it!]
