What deals do member services provide regarding car rental?

Is it worth using them or internet?

The best source for renting a car is through priceline. You can usually get a midsize car for $12 to $15 dollars a day. I have never been able to go direct to a rental company and have them come close to pricelines prices. Usually I rent a car for 10 days. When you rent a car direct from a rental company, they will quote you a per day rate or a weekly rate. Your week rate is good for 5-7 days. So if you rent for 10 days. You get the week rate and then for the extra 3 days you pay almost as much as another week. With priceline you pay the same rate for each day plus taxes.

Hey finally someone who actually used priceline! I know that alot of people have but none that I can ask alot of annoying questions. Just kidding. I do have one or two if you don't mind. I've always wanted to use them but I always think I'll get stuck with one of the companies farthest away from the airport and that has the slowest service.

Anyway, what company did you get and what size car for your money did you get? Did you have to do anything special at the counter? I have the express memberships to National, Alamo and Avis. If you had one of them, did you use the special line to get in and out faster? I will be heading down to Orlando in May and I need a van and I know that I will pay at least $200 the normal way. Anything you can tell me would be a big help.

Thank you

Jon

Currently, there is no DVC discount available for car rental.

The Transportation Board may be a better spot for rental information.

Hey Dopey, don't forget me. They moved this to another board so I might not get an email when someone answers.

thanks

I have used Priceline the past 3 trips. The first trip was Alamo and the last two have been Avis. I bid 17.00 per day for a full size last trip, that did not include taxes. It was accepted, obviously.
For my upcoming trip I did the same bid and it was not accepted.
I ended up using an AARP code with a 15.00 coupon for national and the end result for a week was 189.58 total. This is for a pickup and drop off at Tampa.

1. I got a compact car for $10 a day. Ford Escort - Orlando
2. I got a midsize car for $15 a day. Grand AM - Orlando
3. I got a mini van for $27 a day - Phoenix
4. I was given Budget every time I have rented. No complaints
5.If you are a preferred member to any of the major car rental companies then you still can use your express pass.
6 The car rental company was at the airport. I did not have to go off site. It took me a total of 15 minutes to check in and pick up my car.
7 Priceline only uses major car rental companies - National, Budget, Avis, Alamo. I know there are a few more.

If you have anyother questions feel free to email me.

Only one more and that is Hertz.

Have you tried to bid recently for a Feb. trip? Not good. :(
