DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

OK now for Some WDW fun.......
  1. Wishes or Illuminations?
  2. MK or AK rope drop?
  3. Spectromagic or Main St Electrical Parade?
  4. Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach?
  5. Tipsy Ducks in Love or one of the Slushes in France?

1. Illuminations - no question ;-) (actually I like them both - miss Wishes quite a bit!)

2. Nothing quite like MK at rope drop - lots of memories with the DDs when they were wee little!

3. Spectromagic! My first disney nighttime parade and most memorable

4. N/A - have you seen me? I'm pasty white - avoid the sun at all cost.

5. Tipsy Ducks - because Bourbon always wins.

  1. POC or Jungle Cruise? POC - best memory / attraction from my only visit as a young kid
  2. Dole Whip or Mickey Bar? Mickey Bar
  3. MK Main St USA or Worldshowcase? MK Main St - especially at night with all the lights and more of a cozy atmosphere loaded with anticipation for the evening fireworks
  4. Poly or Boardwalk? Boardwalk - location, location, location. C'mon, walking distance to Rose & Crown combined with lake view
  5. Jock Lindseys or Nomad Lounge? Tough one but I go Jocks for the themeing and they have upped their food game lately
I see your walking distance to RnC and lake view and raise you staggering distance to Trader Sams and Castle View. If you ever get to London, I can see I'm gonna have to chisel you out of the pub. Providing we can find one that still serves Harp.

I'll raise view of Space Ship Earth or TOT and associated nighttime pyrotechnics with walking distance to Yachtsman Steakhouse and staggering distance to Bel Vue Lounge (RIP CJ) and Abracadabar......... :rotfl:

I'm a big Guiness fan as well but yes I do love a half and half and DS is a fan of the cider and black and I also enjoy a black velvet. If I ever get the chance to hang with you my friend in a London pub I will be happy to sample whatever the local favorite is.

Wishes. Miss it something fierce.
MK.
I'm not sure I ever saw spectromagic, so I'll have to watch.
Only been to TL, so have to go with that. The few times we've thought about going to BB, it's been closed.
Slushes in France. No coffee for me. I wonder as I type that...could I just get it with tea and omit the coffee. Something to consider next time.

Used a sick day and survived the dentist for a cleaning and a chipped tooth. I used all my HSA and my credit card is still smoking after that.

Monday AM 41 degrees and feels like early October and by Thursday we will be back up in the 90's. Nothing like a little variety. Built the foundation for the new mattress this weekend. We were expecting delivery today and it was only 3 hours away yesterday but for some reason they decided to send it over to Norm so now it needs to come back from that end of the state. The least they could do is bring some BBQ mutton with it since it went that far. Lots of work waiting for me this week and just need to decide where to jump in. Anything is better than watching the chaos happening in the cities. I talked with my brother, a LEO, and my nephew still hasn't rethought his career plans and will be finishing up at the Police Academy our Chief's fair state this month.

I gladly would have escorted them with the mutton. Too bad.

I swapped the Tequila for wine, but it sounds like we had a similar Sunday afternoon.

Don Julio anejo. It's the best tequila I can get here.

We had that just a couple days ago. Same thing. 90 today. 40s yesterday.
I talked with my brother, a LEO,
What does that mean?
having one of those days when you looked at the clock and it was 8am, and now it's past 2pm already.
Nice. I like those days.
Roger, Roger. What's our vector, Victor? Roger, Over. Huh? What? Who?
:thumbsup2
Yeah! Only 500m to go!!! Its in the bag!!
Hey! That's right! I can do this!
I got called in to work today, but asked the kid if she wanted to go for a short (15 minute) run. And pretty much nothing hurt! (Damn, that's a relief!)
After the run, we were both hot and sweaty from the 24C heat and full sun, but... we went for a soak in the pool after and... still... nothing hurt.

  1. Wishes or Illuminations? Easy. Wishes.
  2. MK or AK rope drop? Tough one. If you don't RD FoP, you ain't getting on. But if you have a FP for it... then I'm RDing MK.
  3. Spectromagic or Main St Electrical Parade? MSEP
  4. Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach? I've never been to Blizzard Beach. Not sure I want to. I see enough snow in my life. So Typhoon it is.
  5. Tipsy Ducks in Love or one of the Slushes in France? France!!
Sounds like you had a real good day right there
Busy... but not too shabby. :)

Morning boys from another beautiful day here. Back on the eating straight and narrow after a few weeks of lockdown gorging. My shirts were getting a little bit snug, and there's no way I'm going back up to XLs.

I talked with my brother, a LEO
What does that mean?
Either he's a Law Enforcement Officer or his horoscope says a person from his past will bring him good tidings. Pick your poison.
OOOH Harp, I like that.
With your journeys on Untapped mate, I wouldn't have had you down as a lager drinker. I guess sometimes your can't beat a frosty clean beer in the heat. Again, really sorry about your friend, buddy. That's way too young.
I'll raise view of Space Ship Earth or TOT and associated night time pyrotechnics with walking distance to Yachtsman Steakhouse and staggering distance to Bel Vue Lounge (RIP CJ) and Abracadabar......... :rotfl:
Now we got ourselves a pot. I'll raise with fireworks on the beach with music, staggering distance to Tambu (RIP CJ) and walking distance to Vic and Alberts :rotfl2:

In all seriousness though, we went to the Boardwalk to check it out. We really wanted to like it, but just didn't feel the vibe. It's strange how different resorts in WDW have a completely different atmosphere. I guess that's why we all go back.

Have a great day gents, may your coffee (I know Doc, or Tea) be hot and your beignets be fresh.

I know several dad's have gone keto. My wife decided we need to do it. I've been working on some recepies but would love to hear what y'all have come up with. I got this one from my brother.
Take avacado, peel it and remove seed, replace seed with ball of cheese and reclose avacado. Wrap avacado with ground meat then wrap with bacon. Put on BBQ pit and smoke for 2-3 hrs. IMG_20200531_205659951.jpgIMG_20200531_173432658.jpg

Okay...I need a copy of Mark's drooling Homer award. That looks good. Mmmm bacon.

PM me...will need to exchange phone numbers or emails.....
Lot of good things I have come across or experimented with.

Another beautiful, sunny morning here but man the temperatures have changed. Our high right now is about half of what it was last week.

Looks like a quiet day at the office but that could change. DW started back yesterday, only teachers in the school though. The have about 3 weeks to close out the year and figure out a plan for September based on reduced numbers in a classroom, online teaching or a combination of both.

Have a good one!

I do enjoy a good lager but you don't find many craft brewers making them around here.

Thanks for the thoughts. Found out this morning that everything happened pretty quickly in the end. He was only taken back to the hospital early last week and pretty much right into hospice care. One nice thing was that he and his long time girlfriend did get married about two weeks ago so that was nice to see.

Dentist we see say they still can't get any personal protective equipment. Frustrating. DS, DD and I are all overdue for cleanings and repair work.

What does that mean?

LEO= Law Enforcement Officer. Dad was part-time officer when I was young but gave it up. My brother is now, my nephew will be and my SIL worked counseling in the state prison system.

If I could make a suggestion...instead of wrapping avocado with ground meat and bacon, simply throw the avocado away and wrap the cheeseburger with bacon.

praying for peace

'Morning all...
Busy couple of days and it's likely to stay that way a bit longer, but right now I'm waiting on other folks so it's time to check in.

OK now for Some WDW fun.......
  1. Wishes or Illuminations?
  2. MK or AK rope drop?

1 - The eyes liked Wishes more, but the ears were far more attracted to Illuminations (the Overture and Finale are fabulous pieces of music, but granted, the Intermezzo section was a bit slow)

2 - Depends on what you're trying to accomplish. It's often the only way to get onto FoP

3 - Hummm... MSEP I think, but both are fine.

4 - TL - It's a bit more laid back, but again, both are fine.

5 - Well, I'll be having both but if you force me to pick then it Tipsy Ducks (we actually make those at home from time to time and likely will do so tonight)

Ouch...
I have an appointment to see mine tomorrow - new protocols and all. Hopefully, they wont find anything wrong beyond the cleaning.

Yep...
I've been relativity good over the past two months, but the scales are starting to creep up a smidge. The clothes aren't tight yet, but I ain't crossing the 14-stone barrier ever again if I can have any say in the matter. I'm going to be going rather hungry for a few days here.

Have a great day gents, may your coffee (I know Doc, or Tea) be hot and your beignets be fresh.
Mmmmm... Beignets...
Good thing I don't have access to any of those right now.

Oh, it has tea in it too... and happiness...
And Bourbon.
Which I suppose by definition, would be happiness.

That actually does sound interesting.
One of these first days, I'm going to have to invest in a decent grill/smoker

So sorry to hear about the loss.
May every one find the healing they need.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Is it Friday yet - ugh. Not much goin on here as yesterday was the wind down of MIL birthday celebration. The parade event was a bit special, especially considering everything goin on in the world today. Friends of ours took time out their Sunday, we placed invites on all the mail boxes on her street and most came out for her even though many had never met her until Sunday. Several folks stated that the celebration was something everyone needed right now (fire truck helped). Stay healthy and be safe gents!

WDW pick 'em for today.........
  1. RNRC or TOT?
  2. Music, When You Wish Upon a Star or A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes?
  3. MK Cinnamon Roll at Gastons or AK Mickey Cinnamon Roll at Kutsafari Bakery?
  4. Kilimanjaro Safari or Living with the Land?
  5. Cold Beer at American Pavilion or at Canada Pavilion?
For the record from yesterday
  1. Wishes or Illuminations? Illuminations
  2. MK or AK rope drop? MK - this has gotten closer over the years as the Safari, EE a Dawa Bloody Mary...........RIDE / DAWA / Repeat
  3. Spectromagic or Main St Electrical Parade? Spectro - DS favorite as a kid (he asked me how Scott remembered as a kid? And then said, oh I forgot Dad you are older than most of these guys)
  4. Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach? TL hands down, more relaxing with the tropical atmosphere and the Lazy River
  5. Tipsy Ducks in Love or one of the Slushes in France? Tipsy Ducks - bourbon
Now we got ourselves a pot. I'll raise with fireworks on the beach with music, staggering distance to Tambu (RIP CJ) and walking distance to Vic and Alberts :rotfl2:

I'll raise with 1 & 2 bedroom villas - call 8-) (you will know what I mean as the kids get older)

We like Poly *** well but I think as families get older favorites change as being on the monorail loop when they were younger was the want. Now with the additions as HS and the food and drink aspect of EPCOT the location and atmosphere are the family's favorite. And with all that Home Resort is AKL Kidani :rotfl:

Again, sorry for your loss
Yeah, I remember the 60's and the 70's...
If you remember them then you did not experiment like you think
5 - Well, I'll be having both but if you force me to pick then it Tipsy Ducks (we actually make those at home from time to time and likely will do so tonight)
Thinking you need to post and share that recipe sooner rather than later

Happy Tuesday. So, the boss sent me an email asking for a timeline of a project completion. I'm thinking the day after I retire sounds good.

In all seriousness though, we went to the Boardwalk to check it out. We really wanted to like it, but just didn't feel the vibe. It's strange how different resorts in WDW have a completely different atmosphere. I guess that's why we all go back.

And how the resorts appeal differently to each of us. Outside of the points cheapness, I like the Boardwalk because of the theming and walking distance to the two parks. Some complain about the long hallway walks, but I like being inside the one building. I prefer that to the resort style at Poly where you walk to the different buildings. While I've yet to stay at Grand Floridean, my favorite so far is Bay Lake Tower. I'm not sure any resort is a bad place to be.

I know several dad's have gone keto. My wife decided we need to do it. I've been working on some recepies but would love to hear what y'all have come up with. I got this one from my brother.

Keto here. I found that just good old cooking is better than recipes. I went up for the better cut of steak (strip loin), season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, sear both sides in olive oil in cast iron skillet, and finish it in the broiler with butter.

For chicken, I really enjoy nashville hot seasoning. So, I'll cube and pan fry boneless chicken thighs (or breasts) in butter, remove from pan, toss in Nashville hot, and serve over a salad of romaine lettuce, fresh squeeze lemon juice, parmesan cheese, and ranch.

Pork tenderloin, salmon, shrimp, burgers, and hot dogs are some other regulars. Guy Fieri used the phrase "season with authority", and that's what I've tried doing. I'm only eating once a day now, and if hungry, snack on eggs, bacon, pickle, cheese.

Dentist we see say they still can't get any personal protective equipment. Frustrating. DS, DD and I are all overdue for cleanings and repair work.

Mine are covered to the tee, and they think it's ridiculous too. They already used sanitary practices, now they are using double sanitary practices. And, these double sanitary practices are brought to you by the same government that says indoor movie theatres are safe but public tennis courts and campgrounds are banned as lethal COVID hazards.

Ouch...
I have an appointment to see mine tomorrow - new protocols and all. Hopefully, they wont find anything wrong beyond the cleaning.

Mmmmm... Beignets...
Good thing I don't have access to any of those right now.

And Bourbon.
Which I suppose by definition, would be happiness.

I have a good dentist. I have a cracked tooth and another chipped tooth that he points out, but as they don't cause pain or problems, he leaves alone until he thinks there is a problem. He only works 4 days a week, and isn't in the practice of trying to gouge you.

Bourbon and beignets sound terrific, although I've not have that combination. I'm willing to give it a chance.
