In 1995 Mattel was gonna release a series of Disney Princess dolls called Disney's Bedtime Princess Collection and the series was supposed to feature Belle Aurora Jasmine Snow White and Cinderella as soft huggable dolls that had musical nightgowns and each princess doll's dress played the theme song from the princess's movie. But for reasons unknown according to my copy of Disney Dolls by Margo Rana the doll series was never released to stores and the only thing that existed of these dolls was a stock photo by Mattel and it seems to be one of the mysterious Disney doll sets of Mattel history
Why did the Mattel Bedtime Princess Collection never get released in 1995?

Maybe they didn't do well in testing - if the song chips were too sensitive, they would keep waking the kids up.

I think they also released the Bubble Princess Line around that time, and they still seem to be pretty hot on ebay. Maybe they underestimated demand for those, then transferred production resources from the bedtime ones to a second run of the bubble ones instead?
