Disney Very Merry Christmas Party

So does that mean if we plan to visit Magic Kingdom on one of the Very Merry Xmas Party days but don't attend party that they don't have a fireworks/light show for the other guests? I just assumed that they had the standard fireworks/ligh show that was available for the everyday guests and then another fireworks show available as part of the party. The one I'm specifically interested in seeing is the one where Tinkerbell flies down from the top of castle while they play "when you wish upon a star". Seriously cried the first time I saw that, and I know my daughter would be amazed if she saw that as well. Not gonna lie, I would probably dish out the $200 just for her to experience that if it's only going to be available during the Very Merry Xmas Party. We arrive on Dec 9th and my plan was to take her to Magic Kingdom that night, however this is the night of one of the Xmas parties, so now I'm not sure if that show will be available for the non party guests. Sorry for the long winded message. This is the one thing I'm looking most forward to sharing with my daughter and just want to make sure we don't miss it. Thanks for your help.

Regular Wishes does not show at all on party nights, and Tink does not fly on party nights. If you want to see the regular fireworks and Tink you would have to watch on a non-party night.

On party nights the only fireworks are part of the party. At MVMCP it is called Holiday Wishes and it is a different show than regular Wishes.

Tomorrow is our 180 day mark to make ADRs and which day we go to MVMC depends on them a little, but we are so excited to go! I can't wait! This is our first trip for everyone (5 adults and a 2 year old who will be turning 3). I love Christmas and I think it will be really cool for our toddler! Hoping to go Nov 16th!

This is our first Disney world trip the winter and we bought our mvmcp tickets the day they came on sale ... We're going early in the party season on nov 13th hoping it's not a full party, but I'm sure will enjoy it !!! We've been going to Disneyland since 1970 so we've been at every time of the year ... But Florida is a real treat and so much to do, excited : )

I have to say I like the not so scary halloween party better :-) for the Xmas party, the decorations are there every day after thanksgiving so thats already there. The cookies and hot chocolate they give at the different spots is same at each spot and there's really only so much you can eat LOL. At least at the halloween party they give the kids fists full of candy at each spot and the CMs fill up the bag as quickly as possible with big handfuls so the parents can move on to something else :-)

If it's your first time doing it I do recommend to get the experience, but the halloween one is better :-)

Could you guys give me your opinion on attending the Very Merry Christmas Party? I know you have to pay for a separate ticket. We are going to be in Disney over Thanksgiving and wondered if it was worth speeding the extra money. Any and all advice is appreciated!!!

THANKS!!

We love the parties as we have been to 3 Halloween parties and 2 Christmas parties and had just as much fun at the last one as we had at the first one. I would suggest doing it at least once as there are party specific parades, fireworks, and merchandise that make it worth the extra cost, IMO.

Went to the party last year, and my overall impression was that it wasn't anything special, but I was still glad we went.

Basically, the party offers Christmas themed shows, a parade, and fireworks that are not available before Christmas week. Then there are special meet and greets with a number of characters, and there are dance parties and cookies and coco. There are also special pins and merchandise for sale just for the party.

The number of people they let in is kept low enough that you will see a worst case scenario of about 10-15 minute waits for the most popular rides, with walk-ons to 5 minute waits being more common. If you are going during a busy time and just want to ride without the long waits, this is the way to go.

However, lines for characters, especially rare ones will be very long. I'm talking 2 or 3 hours long. I think there were even reports last year of longer lines than that. Staking a spot for the popular shows and the parade is about the same as well, with people lining up hours before the party even starts. There are a few last minute spots you can grab if you know where to look or don't mind an obstructed view, but if you want that guaranteed front and center parade or show view, expect to arrive early and wait. We did manage to see the midnight showing of the Tomorrow-land show no problem because by that time most of the park had emptied out, and we were able to get a last minute obstructed view of the parade as well.

It's really crazy. Once you get off away from Main Street and the Christmas shows, the park feels like a level 1-3 park and is fairly empty. But venture back over near Main Street or the stages, and it suddenly feels like a crowd level 10 day with wall to wall people you can barely fight your way through. This sort of creates a catch 22. If you stay away from the crowds, then you end up staying away from all the special Christmas parts of the party and the Christmas decorations. And if you really want to take part in the Christmas parts, you have no choice but to wade into the crowds and put up with the long waits.

The dance parties were the least crowded party event going on and very cute for little kids. If you are wanting your kids to get some great character interaction without waiting in those long lines, the dance party is the way to go.

We found the hot coco and cookies nice when the temp dropped to 45, and we found ourselves suddenly freezing.

Nothing can beat 360 degree fireworks, and there isn't really a bad spot to watch them. Although, I do prefer center of park near the carousel.

In my opinion, they didn't handle merchandise very well, as they sold out of pins and other popular items during the first few parties. I feel they should have allotted a certain amount per night, instead of selling everything the first few nights and leaving nothing available for all the rest of the parties. I was a little disappointed that I couldn't even get a simple pin or a shirt as they were all sold out and had been for awhile. Not sure if they will handle it the same way this year as last. I know there was a lot of complaining, so maybe they will make changes this year to the merchandising.

The decorations were underwhelming to me, and you can see them anytime. Yes, Main Street was beautiful. The problem was it was about the only place you could see any decorations at all, and Main Street stays so packed with people you can't see anything to begin with. The rest of the park had a few lights shaped like snowflakes splashed across buildings and a couple of bows or candy canes to mark the dance party or refreshment locations, and that was about it. I thought Sea World put Disney to shame when it came to decorating for Christmas.

Overall, we went to ride rides without a wait, and the party accomplished that for us. Purchasing a party ticket was also a much better deal than purchasing a 1 day ticket. However, if we were going to be going to MK during the regular day, I'm not sure I'd pay for a party ticket. I don't think the Christmas aspects alone would be enough for me, as the crowds are really more than I want to deal with in those areas, and I don't care enough about any character to wait more than a few minutes for their signature. I don't care how rare they are.

Rather or not you will find the party worth the money is going to depend on your motivation for going. Just have to have that rare characters signature and picture? Worth it. Really want to ride your favorite ride over and over again, no waiting? Worth it. It has always been your dream to see the parade live? Worth it.

Been at the park all day, and now need to fight the crowds for a spot to watch a few shows and the parade, not sure I'd spend the extra money, especially for a big family.

Thanks!!!! Would love to meet the Dwarfs, but can't imagine standing in line for 90 minutes for it, but you never know! Do you have any recommendations for a TS lunch at Epcot? We will be there earlier in the day before going to MK at 4 for MVMCP.

We were able to meet the Dwarves last year and only had to wait about 20 mins. We met them right after the fireworks.

So, depending on the night and timing, you just never know! :goodvibes

Are the tickets on sale yet? Do you guys know if the Party ever sells out? My friend is going Dec 13-20. I have been helping her try to plan but I have never done MVMCP.
Thanks for your help!

Yes tickets are on sale. Some parties do sell out.

From experience...where do you get the "special holiday" Sorcerer of the Magic Kingdom cards?

Also, is the party merchandise only available on the Main Street?

We have gotten them at the fire house during the party. In the past you had to show your party ticket and they punch a hole in in so that you can't get more than one.

Thank you for all the info!

Being new to these parties, I am finding that you really have to "be in/know" where is where before you go in or else you'll miss out on what the party has to offer.

New to the forum and have a question - we are going to Very Merry Christmas Party for the first time ever on Nov 7th. :yay:

What can we expect in ways of decorations and Christmas stuff that early? Do they really start transforming the park that early in Nov? Thanks for your help.

MK is completely decorated for Christmas in time for the first MVMCP except for the large Christmas tree which doesn't go up until after they film the Christmas parade the first weekend in December.

I can tell you, I LOVE Christmas. I had to buy a whole 'nother shed just to fit all my Christmas decorations. I was so excited to go.

Maybe it was because we had never been and were focused on getting the rides in. Or that we went the last Friday of the time and it was the day we arrived. I don't know, I just know that for what I paid for the MVMCP tickets, I would have rather just added another day and watched the parade then. The tickets were super expensive. My kids had fun, don't get me wrong, but I didn't love it like I thought I would.

BUT I did love DW at Christnas, so much I gave up my hope of Turks and Caicos and agreed to a redux! :rolleyes1

Just I have this straight, We don't have hopper tickets just base ones. If we were to purchase MVMCP tickets for a day that we planned to be at say Epcot. We can still go to MVMCP that night? It wouldn't effect our planned park days?

Correct. Your MVMCP ticket is separate from your park ticket.
