A DAY TO RELAX, VISIT THE DISNEY OUTLET AND DISNEY SPRINGS
So, I managed to get us over to the AK resort after my GPS directed me to the AK park and then around in about 4 circles. Bell Services brought our bags straight to the room. We had a great location. We were room 5020 on the 5th floor on the Giraffe Trail. We had a nice view of the pool and were high enough up that we didn’t hear too much pool noise. We were right by the elevator at the front of the lobby, which put us right by the gift shop and pool entrance….WOOHOO!!! Only ten points a night and NO LONG WALKS to the room!!! I still can’t believe that I was able to book a VALUE category room! I grabbed it right at the 31 day mark. At first it was just one night, then within about 40 minutes of stalking the site, I was able to piece together 3 nights. Then when a lake view studio at Poly came open, I didn’t feel guilty for spending the extra points to get that one night at the front of the trip.
We requested an air mattress because one of the girls sleeps like a wildebeest. LOL! She needs her own space. We set it up in the hallway area right at the front door. We latched the door so that Mousekeeping would not try to open it and hit her feet with the door. It was very comfortable and was really easy to inflate and deflate each day. Also, the room was great. It was clean and didn’t seem any smaller than a standard or savannah category studio. As a matter of fact, the counter section in the kitchen area seemed longer than most studios and I really appreciated that since I made some simple meals in our room.
We slept in until about 9 am. I went down to the gift shop and bought frozen waffles. I premade some egg / cheese / bacon muffins and packed some fruit so we had a nice breakfast. After that we headed out to look around the resort and then to the pool. We talked with a cultural representative about some birds at the resort and did a little game. We tried our best to see some animals. There were a few giraffes, zebras, antelopes and birds, but they were not really close. It was too hot for too many of them to be out wondering around.
I was really not happy that BOTH of the porches to sit and overlook the savannah at Jambo were CLOSED for private events. One was an event actually going on at the time and one was for an event they were preparing for at 7 pm. This was around 11:30 am…I was like, “REALLY”…? Not too cool…especially since I had told the girls we could sit and relax and see the animals from the porches. And, yes, I know I could have gone over to Kidani, but that was a bus ride or a ten minute walk away. It was 96 degrees that day….and I just didn’t feel like putting out the effort. LOL!
We looked at some artwork and then headed to the pool. We had some zebra domes and a cupcake. YUM! The pool was nice. Once we were at Vero beach in July and the pool water was alike a hot bath. This water was cool, but not cold. It was great to relax and float and not be baking in the 95 degree sun since we found a little spot of shade in the pool. Also, the hot tub was completely empty, so we sat in it for a while and just enjoyed the silence and relaxation.

We all used the showers at the pool house so that all four of us could quickly shower and then go to the room to get ready for the evening. There were clean towels and the great H20 brand shampoo, conditioner and body wash dispensers so it was really convenient and quick. Four women and one shower would have taken FOREVER in the room.
We had some cheese, black bean, corn, salsa, avocado nachos in the room compliments of my extreme microwave skills and took our time getting ready. It was going to be about 95 degrees until about 5 pm so we used that time to get all of the stuff ready for the next day (organized clothes, packed snacks, inflated the air mattress…etc…) at HWS so that when we cam back from our evening outing, we could crash into the bed and wake up early for another big day at HWS.
We headed over to the Disney Character Warehouse Outlet (8200 Vineland Ave #1252, Orlando, FL 32821) around 5 pm. They had some great deals ….really CUTE t-shirts for $8-18, $35 phone cases for $8, picture frames $4-7, plush from $5-12, Star Wars glasses / high ball glasses $4 (originally $14), Kate Spade purses for about $59 (not the cutest ones I’ve ever seen so I managed to refrain)…and lots and lots more. I might go there again. It was not far away and it was easy to park and walk through the food court to get to the shop. The girls wanted cheaper souvenirs, so it was a good place to check. We saw a McDonalds so we went through the drive through for a snack…fries and milkshakes! YUM!
Next, we headed back to the “Disney Bubble” for an evening at Disney Springs. The temperature was finally manageable at about 7 pm. We spent time in the World Of
Disney store, the Photo Pass location, Basin. One of my favorite things is the $6 container that you can fill with a variety of bath salts at basin. With the 15% DVC discount, you can have a nice little thing for yourself of a gift for someone else for under $5.50…not too shabby!

We had a lot of fun at the Photo Pass stop…the girls had coordinated their outfits for everyday and for this particular evening, they had Spiderman, Iron Man and Captain America “inspired” outfits. So, they were very excited for a photo shoot!

We went to some more stores. They especially liked Trend and the Co – Op Marketplace stores. We all loved the dresses in the One Cherry tree Lane shop!
We ended the night with boba tea at the Morimoto Asia Street Cart quick service location.
