DW and I are with Teamubr and family up in Door County WI for the week. I will post pics soonly we I get my new phone straightened out for loading of said pics

Looks like we need to get some pics up before we get another meme shot.

We have been having a great time checking out the county. Lots of shopping and seeing the sights. Found a nice marina in Sister Bay with some benches to enjoy the lovely weather and views.

Sister Bay is also home to the Swedish restaurant and tourist trap called AL Johnsons. It is known for great breakfast and goats on the roof.

After a nice anniversary dinner (41 years) we settled back at the campground for dominoes and a fire.

Tomorrow is a boat cruise along the bay (west) side of the peninsula. We had reservations to sail today, but the wind (and waves) were pretty severe and they cancelled.

We love Door County. Went there early May, and stayed in a beautiful cabin. Did you camp at Peninsula SP? Just deciding if we need to get a smaller camper, and hopefully the answer will be okay! Have a great time,

Barb,

We are in Baileys Harbor at Beantown Campground. The state park was already booked when we decided to come up here.

Very beautiful pics, Joe.

I looked up the weather for Sister Bay, WI and saw that temps are low 70s-low 80s day time and down around 60 at night. Which should be very pleasant in my book.

But with the pics outside at night with the campfire, I wondered if the mosquitos/bugs were an issue after the sun goes down?

Looks like a very relaxing place. Boat cruises and winery tours are more my speed. Looks like it would be a great place to work on a puzzle in the quiet mornings.

Ed

PS - and Jim, the Swedish restaurant may be a tourist trap but it's as close as I'll EVER get to Sweden itself. So I would go there "fer shure".

@bama_ed, yes the weather has been great. As for bugs, there has been a decent breeze in the evenings, which has kept the bugs at bay. Unfortunately the wind makes it a wee bit difficult to do puzzle

I think we will head there for breakfast one day. It is quite popular. Not sure what the lines will be like in the morning.

Today started off with rain. Forecast was for it to clear out by 10, so we set plans to try Al Johnsons for breakfast. We arrived about 945 and requested a table for 5. The girl said 1240. I said 5 and she said, "Your return time is 12:40". We'll have to try that a different day. They open at 7, so it will be like rope drop to get breakfast.

We went up the hill to another breakfast place and were done by 11. The plan for the day was to go over to Washington Island. It is off the northern tip of the Peninsula and has some cute local shops and restaurants, a lavender farm and some nice beaches. They also have a Cherry Train Tour that takes you on a narrated trip around the island to see the sights. That was fun.

The island has a large Scandanavian heritage. There is a cool Skule church that was built to mimic an actual church in Iceland. Very reminiscent of the Norway/Frozen pavilion at Epcot.

Then we were off to the lavender farm. Very pretty, but if you aren't fond of lavender smell, this may not be the place for you.

The trip back to the main land was a little rough. We were stuck in the car as they parked us too close to the outside and we had a car tight on the other side. So we enjoyed the waves crashing over the bow and soaking the cars in front of us. We were the 4th row back, near the middle of the ferry. At least it wasn't salt water.

It was fun watching the GPS in the car as we headed across the water.

Tonight we are making tacos and nachos while we sit out and watch the Cubs/Cards game. Evenings have been cooling off fast. I'm not used to needing long pants and jackets in August.

And just like that. A walk off hit to right field. Cards win 4, 3.

Glenda isn't happy. Game 2 at 6:45. We are heading to an outdoor theater to see a play at Peninsula Players with my brother and his wife.
