DVC Mike Live from VWL (Jan 9-17, 2010)

We left home around 4am on Saturday, and it was a chilly 17 degrees. We arrived at the Wilderness Lodge at 12:30pm, where it was a chilly 33 degrees. Brrr!

We just relaxed around the resort (mostly inside) today. They closed the pool bar and had opened up the Territory Lounge. We had dinner at the Whispering Canyon Café.

This should be a quiet trip. It should warm up over the week until it hits the low 70’s by the end of our trip.

I snapped a few quick shots of the Wilderness Lodge lobby with my new Nikon camera. I haven’t had much of an opportunity to use it until today. Hopefully, by the end of this trip, I'll feel as comfortable using it as I am with my trusty old Olympus compact.

Great photos of the WL lobby, Mike........we just left WDW for home yesterday (1/8/10) and heard at the airport they were expecting a light snowfall last night.....we arrived home to northeastern PA late afternoon yesterday to a very chilly 17 degrees......today the high was 16.......and tonight single digits!
We stayed at BLT this visit, but, VWL is our home resort and we're looking forward to our next stay there ......haven't stayed there for about 2 years now.....our last few visits have been to AKV, BCV, and this visit to BLT.....we have no plans to stay anywhere but VWL for the next few years......we stopped by on Thursday evening for a little bit and felt a bit sad that we hadn't stayed there this time.........it's just such a warm, inviting environment.

Yeah! Another DVCMike report!!

Thanks for sharing your photos Mike! My sister and her family just checked in this morning too. And they had dinner this evening at Whispering Canyons also. Any chance you were sitting next to a pretty blonde lady with her husband and two children (two boys, 1 girl)? If so, you might have been sitting right beside them. Wouldn't that be something? Small world, indeed!

Yay for another trip report! MY DF is there without me this weekend, I couldn't get off of work, but I am super excited for your pics and reviews of VWL...I am looking forward to staying there for our honeymoon!

I was wondering about your TR last night Mike, remembering you arrived yesterday. Glad to see some beautiful pics, as usual!

We arrive tomorrow afternoon for our triple whammy split stay between THV/AKV-Kidani/VWL. Perhaps we'll run into you somewhere around the world.

Did you get snow showers like they said?

When we hit Florida, we got a bit of rain, but the temp stayed at 33 degrees and we didn't see the sleet or snow mixed with rain that was forecast.

DVC Mike is back in Disney....I couldn't pick a nicer resort to spend my vacation when the temps are that cold, than the Wilderness Lodge.
