ECV and Flying

DH, DD and i will be flying on spirit airline, DH has a fold and go Ecv that he can go to the gate with, my question is we were lucky enough to get row 8, but when we disembark will we have to wait until the plane emptys

Not sure I understand your question.

My hubby has an ECV that we have flown with. We always gate check it.

We use commuter jets to go to Orlando, with the bigger planes the procedure may be different.

When we get to our local airport, hubby rides his ECV to the gate. When it is time to board the plane, he is actually escorted on the ECV to the cargo door, where the plane personell, disconnect the batteries, then load the ECV fully assembled in the cargo area. Then hubby is escorted to the main boarding door.

When we get to Orlando, we get off the plane, and wait just a few minutes while they unload the ECV. The batteries are reconnected, and he drives the ECV from the plane to where we get our towncar.

It is really easy and helps him through the huge airports!!!

he can ride it to the gate have it gate checked and then YES you do wait and get off last. by which time hopefully they will be there with the cart.

We just got back from Orlando (flying Northwest) with a gate checked wheelchair.
We ended up waiting until everyone was off the plane, mostly becasue there were so many gate checked strollers and car seats that I could not get to the wheelchair to "fix" it for DD to get back in. Waiting also meant we didn't have to contend with any people who were getting impatient that DD was taking so long to get down the aisle. Even with waiting, we still got to baggage claim well before our bags did at both Orlando and coming back to Minneapolis.
