Inspired by the Ocean Lakes thread - besides Fort Wilderness, where is your favorite campground?

My favorite is a National Forest Campground in Finland, Minnesota. We get there early to get the campsite we like - it's up on a small cliff, overlooking a river. Beautiful view, and it's so nice to lay at night and listen to the water rushing over the rapids below. :)

Sorry, Rhonda, but we don't like another campground but FW! We've tried a few in TN and other states and none even come close! And if we are going farther we just go to FW, so now we don't camp anywhere but FW.

In a couple of years we are moving to FL, so then we will be able to go more often but for now 4 to 6 weeks a year will have to
do:(

but always stop at the Kentucky Horse Park campground in Lexington our first night. Absolutely gorgeous pool, kiddie pool, clean showers, playground, and shuttle 3X daily over to the horse park (about 1/2 mile). Only bummer is they don't take reservations, so check their internet site to see if there's a big event taking place (ie lots of campers already).

We also like the Rafter Bar J in SD (near Crazy Horse and Mt. Rushmore).

This year we're going to detour through Gatlinburg on the way down, so hope to have another to add to this list.

campingcorgi: We are moving to Florida in a couple of years too! Where are you moving to? We'll be between Ft. Myers and Sarasota.

One of my favorite RV resorts was an Encore in the Everglades. We backed our trailer right up to the dock! Through our poles out and caught some pretty wild looking fishys! Facilities were very nice, too. The resort wasn't exactly your outdoorsy/woodsy type. You're in the middle of the Everglades!

These are my favorite places.

Please note that 3 of the 4 are scout camps, tent camping only

Monte Sano State Park, Huntsville, AL
Camp Jackson, Scottsboro, AL
Camp Rainey Mountain, Far Northeast, GA
Camp Comer, Mentone, AL

Rhonda, we are open to anything in the Central Florida area. We plan on spending a day or two on this trip checking out neighborhoods. Both Ft. Meyers and Sarasota sound nice!
