Fellowship of the fisheye

It takes quite a bit of courage to post a photo on this thread. I am definitely not at the level that the rest of you are as photographers. However, I do enjoy my fisheye lens and I had fun taking this shot.

I'm loving all these fisheye shots! Nice work, everyone. The fish is still a novelty for me and has stayed on my camera more than it should have the past couple of trips.
You mean less than it should. The fish demands constant use! :teeth:

A couple of the shots look a little familiar. ;)

The Space Mountain one may not look very fishy, but it is - the Zenitar 16mm fisheye on an APS sensor. Here's some more from that fun lens:

Wow, they do, don't they? I promise I didn't rip those off of you and would have given you props had yours been the direct influence of mine. However, I readily admit to being heavily, heavily influenced by your photography in general, especially your fisheye shots. BTW, I like the composition of your TTA fisheye shot MUCH better than mine.

I'm just teasing, don't worry about it. :) Those are relatively old shots so you may not have been them unless you were going through some of my early TRs. I couldn't care less if anyone copies any of my shots. Plenty of my shots have been influenced by or even copied directly from others... 0bli0, YEKCIM, etc. Now we have a ton of very talented photographers around here - one can't help but be influenced by your stuff, Gdad's, SrisonS's, etc.

TTA was one of my first fisheye subjects. I did some on film with the Zenitar that I really liked. I need to re-scan these (these are just scans of the prints, not of the negatives) but you get the idea...

I'll end with my favorite of my TTA fisheyes. :)

These are great! Any tips for shooting with a fisheye? Focal points you try to look for?

When you think you're close enough...move closer.

I will actually extend my fingers past the edge of the lens to act as a bumper when I'm composing some shots with the fisheye just so I don't bash the front element against the subject matter.

Nice thread...I need to get another fish one of these days.

Wow...a couple of my shots that I'll be posting look somewhat similar to yours as well, Groucho. I also swear I hadn't seen them prior to our trip.

Conversely, I had seen some of Todd's shots prior to our trip, and a few of mine were directly inspired by them. My absolute favorite shot from the trip was not inspired by Todd, although it's certainly going to look like it was...damn him for beating me to the punch!

It just proves how very difficult it is to come up with a shot that hasn't been done before, by someone, even using a specialty lens like a fisheye. :) I'm sure I've got plenty that I thought were new and others have done before... and like you, I've had ideas for specific shots that others have beat me to. (Darn you Florida residents and your unfair advantage! ;) )

How about a few West Coast fisheyes...

I was hoping the recent rehab of WDW's Space Mountain would bring it up to the level of the DL one... unfortunately, I think the changes were mostly negative. :( So for now, the DL is definitely my favorite...

There, that's more than enough for one night, but there's plenty more where they came from. :)
