There are open sessions throughout the week, and the staff will show him the basics when he goes the first time. If he gets in the Kid's club they also have times reserved for the different age groups - he'd be in the 12-14 YO group. For open sessions you just wait your turn in line. Our grandson was 12 the first time he did the flowrider, and we couldn't get him off of it all week. He was there every time it was open. You can also book private lessons, but I don't remember what the costs were for that. You need to sign a release when you first get on board to allow him to surf.
