This is our favorite park. We decided to get there early and head straight to Test Track. There was already a 40 minute wait, so we got fast passes and headed over to Body Wars. There is never a line there, so we rode twice, then let the kids ride the bikes and play with the tactile exhibits. Went back to Test Track, got in the fastpass line and guess what? The ride broke down. Does it ever go an hour without breaking down, or do I just have great timing? We finally got on after about a 30 minute wait. DD#2, age 6 really liked it this time. We had a teenager in the car riding for the first time who looked at DD#2 and said "well, if this little girl can do it, I guess I can too!" It is exhilarating, but not really scary.
After Test Track we went into the international showcase and rode the boat in Norway and grabbed one of those almond covered pastry pretzels which I love! We nibbled at the various kiosks for the Food and Wine Festival, then hopped the boat back across the lake and went over to the coke building. The kids loved this, threw snowballs at each other on the way in, and tried all the coke flavors. The watermelon flavor was a hit, but we split on Beverly. Two of us thought it was o.k. (but then we drink Moxie!), and two voted for "gross".
We took an afternoon break swimming in the CSR main pool, then went back to Epcot via the Boardwalk bus. This didn't seem any shorter than walking through future world, but it was a fun change. We watched "Honey I shrunk the audience", which we just love. Then we went into the Millenium Village. One of the first exhibits is a run through area where the kids bounce off giant punching bags which all make different sounds. I need one of those at home! They also enjoyed walking through the 4 seasons of Sweden. The Saudi Arabia film was rather lame. When we got to the back we made a wonderful discovery. Food booths from many countries with no lines! The kiosks outside were mobbed, but these are apparantly a well-kept secret. There were also tables to eat at, so we had dinner here.
We decided to go into the Japanese pavillion because we had never been inside before. Very relaxing ambiance. The kids enjoyed playing with the marionette and other old fashioned toys and with the robotic dragon. A teenage girl picked out an oyster, which a Japanese woman openned for her. She had a nice sized pearl inside. Both of my daughters were fascinated by that! It is on there "wish list" for next time.
About 20 minutes before Iluminations we were able to stake out a decent spot ( a little tree coverage, but not bad). We all thought it was outstanding. The bus line for CSR (and all the resorts) was pretty long, but it was really the only long wait for a bus all week so we couldn't complain.
Tomorrow: MGM
