Day 1
Day 2
Monday 5 October 2015
I had made the mistake of turning off the air conditioning last night as I thought it was a bit noisy. As a result we all slept very badly and were awake at 4.30am. The kids said they weren't comfortable so we swapped beds and I turned the air con back on. We lay chatting and discussed doing EMH even though we'd decided against it last night because we wanted to hit the Studios as soon as it opened. Eventually we all drifted off to sleep and I woke around 8am. I was exhausted so didn't actually get up until 8.30 and then I took time wake the others. All very tired we got ready for the day ahead.
Socks for the day:
I opened the curtains to see the view properly. A really lovely view, I don't think we could have got more central.
Work being carried out on the paving slabs below:
Mark our DS was left at home this trip. He's in a band and they have a bag with their faces on it, so I thought I'd take a photo of him so he didn't feel left out
We made our way to breakfast in the Manhattan for 9.30 and enjoyed a filling breakfast.
Still nice and dry outside we headed off through the Village to the Studios. I like that they make an effort with the decorations in the Studios
Crush already had queues of 50 minutes and the kids didn't want to wait today so we all headed for Ratatoullie with some photos on the way.
It was about 10.15 however the ride wasn't open yet. We popped in the shop as this hadn't been finished last time we were here.
I had made a list of all the things I'd like to buy this visit as I always end up just browsing and not remembering what I actually want. One thing on my list was a notebook that I could turn into a recipe book and fill with all my grandparents baking recipes. I found exactly what I wanted in here, a Remy/Gusteau recipe book that stands up! (I'll post photos of everything we bought at the end) I'm chuffed to bits with this and can't wait to start filling it.
We also make great use of the shopping service on this trip. I asked for the book to be sent back to the hotel and all was arranged quickly - ready to be picked up from the hotel boutique after 8pm. We did this a few times and everything worked smoothly. A great service
When we came out of here Ratatoullie was open, already with a 30 min wait. We headed straight to the single rider line and were in and out in about 10 minutes. Fantastic ride in here again. Love it
Abbey wanted to do RC, so she joined the single rider line with a 5 min wait. We took some photos around Toy Story Playland.
Slinky was closed for refurb but I had to take a photo of him anyway
Next up was Cars, 5 min wait
No Dancing!
DH and Abbey went off to do Tower of Terror and Lewis and I went onto Carpets which was a walk on
I think this might need a wee refurb - as the carpets started to fly the creaking sound was really loud
We noticed the Buzz meet and the queue was really short, so we got in line. Lewis met him in about 3 minutes
Then we got some photos at the Monsters Inc area. I wish they'd bring Sulley out again for meets.
Over to see the Stunt Show Cars which was closed again this year. Same last time. Lewis really likes this so it was a bit of a shame. I suppose we'll need to go back another time....
We did carpets again, another walk on, and then met DH and Abbey
Abbey wanted to do Art of Animation next so that's what we did
I like that they always update this with new films - this time Inside Out was featured.
It was around 13:30 now and we wanted some lunch. Off to Earl of Sandwich in the village. DH, Lewis and I all had the Traditional.Abbey wasn't hungry so she just had a drink. Food was nice but some of the beef in my sandwich wasn't completely cooked - I know some like it medium, DH does, but I can't stand it. It was ok though and I just picked out the bits I didn't want.
I had a really sore head, think I was just tired from the lack of sleep so it was nice to relax for half an hour and do nothing. When we left EOS it was raining really heavily, so much that we considered going back to the hotel. In the end we went for it and agreed to brave it and do something I never, ever thought I'd ever do.....we bought ponchos! I would of been quite happy with my hood up and a brolly, but DH didn't have a hood and I knew he wouldn't wear a poncho unless someone else did. The kids were having none of it We bought 2 ponchos and a Mickey umbrella from a shop in the village and then headed to the park.
