We are leaving in 40 sleeps 
and now trying to finalize our route. We plan on leaving late afternoon, on our first day and driving as far as Fargo, ND. Not sure where we will make our second stop, but approx 1/2 way between Fargo and Nashville, as we plan to stop in Nashville to stay on our third night, before arriving in Orlando.
So my questions are for anyone who has made the trip by car in the past. What route did you take? We want to make the drive in the best time, but we dont really want to take any "short cuts" either...we made that mistake on a trip to DL once, through Montana, and let me just say that the shortest route is not always the best one. (93 miles took us 4 1/2 hours to drive not to mention that we lost count at over 160 crosses along the roadside as we drove that stretch of highway

Any recommendations for hotels, along the way?
Anything/ anywhere we want to avoid?
