Can anyone please help I am currently looking at taking my Mum and Dad to WDW as a retirement pressie for my Dad. I should have no problem getting insurance for him he will be 67 when he retires probably just have a higher premium but my mum has chronic obstructive airways disease. If we were to go out I would need to make sure we had appropriate cover for an emergency. While money isn't really the issue if it was to cost too much I would probably not be able to afford everything for the hol. I was hoping to pay for everything except spending money.

Hope you can help.

Hi - there was a post a few weeks back on travel insurance and it mentioned specialist insurance companies who cover for illnesses. I'm sure it was about an article in Which magazine. If I knew how to do the link, I would!!

Try the search facility and put in travel insurance - you never know what other posts on this subject it may throw up.

Another place to try for any insurance is www.thisismoney.com

Good luck, whatever.

Hi Jane

I am sure I recall someone mentioning that they got good insurance cover through Boots the Chemist. Might be worth an enquiry?

I have just insured my mum (70 in Sept) with flexicover direct over the web at a cost of £29 for a single US trip. They give you a number to ring to discuss any "pre existing conditions" and then they give you a reference number which you enter as you purchase the policy. My understanding from them is that they won't increae the premium but they may exclude some cover, which may not be any good for you. Have a look at

http://www.flexicover.net/main.asp

Other companies for over 65 to 74 year olds from Which:

James Hampden - Freedom plan
CostOut (UK) - super cover plus
GoSure.com - single trip
Travel Insurance Ageny - Superior
Under the Sun - premier

Janice it was me who mentioned Boots the chemist, as you know our DD
had heart problems, we tried boots leaflet, which gives alternative number
to call, the premuims were very low to.

We've used Kingfisher several times. They have been very helpful (Our DD has problems which everyone else wanted to exclude).
This year we are using Frequent Virgin as they have not excluded my conditions when everyone else does. If you get really stuck phone the British Assoc of Insurance Co.s They have a list of Companies who offer cover for serious medical conditions.
Good luck
Carol
