Hi Guys and Gals:

After seeing the excitement generated by John and Brian's brillant idea, I thought I would start a thread ala who's passed ROFR. Especially since we have three seperate threads about the service on three sub-boards. Thus I hope to establish a single point with all the brillant ideas of items we use on vacation and store betwen them.

Please post your lists of what your have stored in your OwnersLocker, and I will make a regularily updated list here in Post # 1.

Ha!

We live less than an hour away, so we would not have a need for this service... but I still think it is a FANTASTIC idea!!!

If we "did" need to use one of these, I can DEFINITELY tell you what my DH would be storing in there!....

.....All of his "Disney shirts" that he is too embarrassed to wear anywhere but WDW!!! :rotfl2:

We're adding 2 decks of cards for those tired nights or rainy days.

Just made a list for what we want to keep in our Time Capsule, err Owner's Locker, since we're heading down this weekend. Four more days! :cool1:

Here's what I have so far (subject to change on my whims :rotfl2: )

Caddy for our toiletries
Tube of toothpaste and toothbrushes
Bottle of lotion
Larger than travel sized but smaller than regular sized shampoo & conditioner
Bar soap (I really like my Olay Shea Butter soap)
Liquid Dial hand soap for the bathroom
Mach 3 shaving kit and can of shaving cream
Baby wipes
Smallish tube of baby oil gel
Feminine products
Target brand "clorox" wipes
Ziploc bags
Queen sized fitted sheet (I'm sooo not into fixing the bottom flat sheet daily -we're staying in a studio this trip, so Queen sheet. If and when we stay in a larger unit, I'll bring a King fitted sheet).
Pair of pillowcases (after reading some of the past posts on the DIS, the skeeve factor set in and I want my own!)
Laundry detergent and dryer sheets
Laundry bag
Flip flops
Salt/pepper
Coffee/coffee filters
Sugar
String backpack/carryall (just bought on sale at Target yesterday for half off - only $3.99! :thumbsup2 ). Great for the pool or the parks.
Mini wallets (just bought two of these at Target's Dollar Spot yesterday - so who cares that they're decorated with characters from Family Guy? They'll hold our KTTW cards and a few bucks - perfect).
Alka Seltzer/Tylenol/Benadryl/Immodium - these don't expire for a while.

Hmm, that's it for now, but I'm sure I'll grab a few other items on our way down. Maybe a couple of the dollar disposable ponchos. If I can find some cheap wineglasses before we leave, maybe a pair of those. The only reason I'm not going to keep sunblock is that after several months it loses its effectiveness, so I'll just bring fresh each trip.

I think you stole my list already LOL!

However, for me I think the nice thing about having the locker will be when I do those quick weekend trips. Things that I would normally want but not bring will now be there. Combined with ME it means that I have more time at Disney and less time running "errands" (Disney should love this as it gives us another reason NOT to rent a car!)

::yes:: Exactly!

How much does this service cost? That info seems somehow missing from the web site. Or it is so buried that you can't find it in under 3 days.

I don't think it's on thier website yet. They are doing "Beta" testing and selected some of us for testing. If you go to the thread at the top of this board "Announcing a new service" or something like that they have their ideas on pricing in there. Not final yet. I seem to recall storage fee of $12.50 a month with one free delivery a year.

Here is a link to the "what are the rates" question here on the "Mousecellaneous" Board.

The locker was much larger than what I had expected and yet we still managed to fill it to the brim. Here is the list of what we have stored in our locker. (We also added a combination lock for additional security- even though I think the provided seals would have been sufficient. It was a tight fit, but nothing rattles around in the box! ;)

In addition to what I've read here so far:
Neosporyn
Hydrocortisone cream for bug bites/rash
ponchos
fanny pack (WDW is the only place I dare wear it)
cough and cold syrup
contact lens wetter
a couple extra LGMHs, just in case!

I have 1 suitcase filled ready to take with me on our March trip and I will fill our locker while there. I hope it all fits. I had DH measure out a box about the same size and then filled it, then packed it all in my suitcase. I sure dont want to drag all that stuff back home if it doesnt fit.

Does the lid give us any room or does it squish down on the contents?

Are the partitions removeable? I dont think I will need them, as I packed everything in Ziploc Gallon Bags.

I think I have too much stuff:scared1:

The partitions can be removed, but they are great for separating and protecting small or breakable items. There is also a separate, moveable container inside that has compartments for small items (we stored clippers, nail files, pencils, glasses and a bunch of other small items in that. It fits nicely along one side of the box.

The lid has a flat but recessed top that fits securely into the top of the locker to provide a tight seal. I had to sit on the top to close and lock our box :teeth:, but everything is very secure. I would say that the lid does squish down on the contents so you would not want breakable items on top. We have clothing on top, so no problem with the tight fit.

I am storing 2 folding stools that we use for parades, Mickey wine glasses and 2 Mickey mugs. We don't go until mid-March. I am still planning. I wonder if the dimensions of the box are correct. Doc's list is not-to-be-believed!
Oh, also a Stir Crazy popcorn popper. We are popcorn fanatics.

Well, I did have to sit on the top to close and lock it! :teeth:

The dimensions are 22 (length) X 20 (width) X 13 (height). In the photo you can see the partitions in the bottom and the compartment box at the back. We placed all of the taller items in the corners so we have the center area to stack flat items and clothing and then put the pizza pan on top of the clothes before sitting on the lid.

Here is a photo of the box from the OwnersLocker site:

Sorry, do not mean to thread-jack but $150 a year sure seems pricey. I saw you have to buy the locker (basically a plastic bin) for $75.00 as well. How much is delivery after your first free one? I haven't been able to locate that.

I love the idea, but I can't see this as cost effective.

Wouldn't it be less expensive, and probably more efficient, to pack an extra bag with these items and pay the airlines for the transportation of the extra bag?

Here is my family's perspective:

We usually drive, but when we fly we use carry on luggage only. Several times, full flights have limited us to one piece per person only! (Excluding purses, laptops). While MCO's luggage handling is great, I have waited more than 2 hours (and more than once) for my luggage at EWR, so when we fly, your good suggestion doesn't work for us.

I also have some Disney Only stuff:
Fanny Pack, Passporters, Pool Floats, Personal Fans. I like to have a pretty full first aid-kit (and not forget anyhing) so I have neosporin, assorted bandaids, MOLESKIN, and lots of meds. Antibiotics, Steroid Creams, AntiHistamines, etc. The one time I forgot the antibiotics, we all got strep and waited in the Pharmacy for 3 hours, so I'd leave all that there. Pizza Pan is a great idea, Air Popper Popcorn Popper. Also Holiday decorations, Pal Mickey, and our Annual passes and Disney Wallet with DDE, Blue Membership card. Lime Green and Purple Dream Mickey Head Paint Samples. Now we'll leave some Frog's Leap Merlot (Come on now, what else would I drink? http://www.frogsleap.com/html/intro.html ) and Nando AstiSpumanti, as well as Mudslide Mix and maybe an ice cusher.

Not to mention back-up clothing. Light jackets, sweaters, long pants, etc.

And of course $1.00 bargin rain ponchos. (I do sell these during rain storms on main steet for $5.00 each, it pays for my APs!)

I agree some of the 'list' prices seem high, but there is a shake-out perioid, and economies of scale, and I will expect prices to drop (possibly significantly) as this clever service take off. <=== That is just my guess, I do not have an inside source for OwnersLocker (yet!)

It's something we are seriously thinking about. Coming from Ireland we have a lot of stuff that we can only use in the USA like our 2 way radios, plug adaptors etc., and like Tony - stuff we only ever use in Disney like fanny packs, ponchos, Water park mugs etc., plus each year we leave stuff behind because it's too much hassle to get home. When we unpack we have at least carry on full of our Disney stuff so it might be handy to leave it in Florida.

I do think $150 per year is a lot but I guess you have to weigh up cost verses convenience of not having to carry the stuff back and forth across the Atlantic.

Well, for something much less than the cost of this service, you could UPS yourself this package of support gear and have it waiting for you at the resort when you got there.

Don't get me wrong; I love the concept of this service. I just don't see the cost effectiveness as it appears to currently be set up.

:rotfl2: No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For the sake of all hip women please put the fanny pack to rest!!! I am on a mission to one by one convince every woman in the world to step away from the "Granny" pack! Just think how cute you would be sporting a lovely COACH shoulder bag. MMMmmmmm....You deserve it!!!!
Disney Moms work so hard to make vacations perfect for their families...you dererve to be fashionably Chic! Ha ha ha I am teasing...ugh sort of..:rotfl:
