How formal is formal?

And don't worry you will not be turned away if you choose not to dress up at all. We normally do not do anything extra for the formal nights and are just fine.

Just off the Fantasy last week--on formal night we saw but ONE Tux and formal gown. A few suits, a few more sport coats and a fair # of different kinds of dresses for the ladies.

But there were a large # of "cruise casual" and even shorts on formal and semi-formal night!!

DCL won't care how you dress on those nights--it's up to you. IF you want to dress for the Nines's--go for it.

But keep in mind you do not need to.

ON formal night I was in Palo with a sport jacket. On semi-formal I was in a MDR with slacks and a polo--Mrs U was in long pants and a long sweater/blouse--was just fine.

Exactly. Some folks have the idea that there are fashion Police at the door of the restaurant sizing you up and deciding if you will be admitted.

Many cruise lines really do have fashion police turning people away, so if you're new to Disney, it's well worth asking.

Away on certain nights???

Or away from specialty restaurants on board those ships???
