It's 3:30am...and the wheels are turnin'....

How about the beach pinic party at the YC!!!

also a game like the milloraire...ask Disney questions! (have small prizes thou..not 10000000)dollars!!

I also love to help with a meet and greet thingie!!

Here's something I'd like to be able to do.....

I'm sure there are many people here who are "Park Experts". You know, those who have been a bazillion times, and absolutely LOVE MK, or EPCOT, or AK, or MGM, or more than one, or all of them.

As this will be a family trip for us, and the kiddies have never been to WDW, and DW and I have only been once, seeing "everything" is gonna be really important. We'll have a week to see stuff after the convention ends, so we should have plenty of time to relax and enjoy as much as possible at a reasonable pace. BUT.....

It would be sooooo cool to have a tour of each park with one, or more, or 300 people who are true experts on that park. To show us things through their eyes. To point out the little things we might otherwise miss. To experience some of the "key attractions" that are not so well known.

These would basically be arranged visits to each park, that might last only 2-4 hours. I know that we can get a ton of great info from this site and these boards. But I don't want to have to plan every minute of every day to see things. And I don't want to be constantly referring to a "checklist" to be sure that we've seen all of the "good stuff". I'd L-O-V-E to have someone right there with me showing us the ropes. Rides won't matter a ton, because we'll have some extra time to do that during times when there are no events planned. Plus, we'll have the aforementioned extra week.

Whaddya think? Organized DIS-Tours of the parks? Yay? Nay? Maybay?

How about picking a designated 'park du jour' every day? You don't have to go to that park, but most DISers will be there that day. Have a coffee club meet, all early entry folks meet at a pre-determined place prior to crashing the gate for early entry. That could be the starting point for the DIS park tour.

Since it is close to Christmas, how about a holiday ornament swap meet? Every family make/buy an ornament that represents either their home town or Disney, then have a pre-holiday meet and draw numbers for an ornament swap.

- Pleasure Island meet?

- Cirque du Soleil night? (can you get a price break on tix?)

- or nightly night-cap meets by the hotel pool that you're staying at. Everyone get together for a relaxing drink, poolside before you turn in for the night.

- how about a DIS villan dinner!

- A poolside pizza meet!

keeping in mind that people will actually want to have time to attend the parks and do Disney while they are there :D why don't you do pre and post convention things?

These are some fantastic ideas! I love, love, love (did I say love?) the Spa idea. I've always wanted to do that, but never really had anyone to go with! I'd love to go to the AC with everyone. Wouldn't that be a riot? We'll probably be asked to leave! I love the ornament swap idea. That is so cool! What a great way to meet everyone. I love the picture idea, the tour ideas, the nightly nightcap by the pool, the Villain meal, etc. I also think the DIS official park of the day is a great idea, too. These ideas are so great. How in the "World" are we going to get them all done!?!!! Pete & Linda, I arrive early on the 27th and don't leave until the 4th. I would be more than happy to help with set-up, take-down, greeting, sign-ups, or whatever. I'm coming alone, so I have the time if you need me. I'm at the YC/BC, too, if that helps. :D

Been there, done that, GOING BACK!

These ideas are all great. I especially love the scrapbooking idea, ornament swap, scavenger hunt, oh, heck, I love them all! Let's do it!!

Pete, I have had lots of people volunteer to be actively involved in events, I think we have a very interested group here in making this Convention very special... It just gets better and better.. :)

Wow!! What a creative bunch!!

Taking off on the suggesting for doing something for give the kids the world and the ornament swap, what if we all brought an ornament and had a DIS christmas tree that we decorated on the openning night and all ornaments collected would be donated to help out needy families..don't know if this fits with what give the kids the world does or not. Put a little giving to others into our fun? Wouldn't the tree be beautiful? Maybe Disney could supply the tree for us to decorate?

I love the idea of tea at the GF.

Lots of suggestions for things to do with kids..what about a few adult only events? Maybe a wine tasting event or something at PI one evening?

I also like the idea of bringing a family photo..maybe have a blank canvas available and some glue so we can make a huge DIS family collage - that Pete can take back to his office when the event is over as our thanks for organizing the event.

What about a DIS convention photo of the entire group??

I'd be willing to help out with an event..don't know much about PIN trading or setting up scrap books though, but do have excellent organizational skills!

Maybe we can also ask people to bring items that can be given away as prizes for the various contests people are suggesting. Books, CD's, hats etc. are easy things to throw in a suitcase.

We are arriving on 11/28 and staying until 12/9..so it will be fun to spend the first part of our vacation participating in DIS events and meeting all the wonderful folks I've had the opportunity to chat with for almost 2 years! Thanks to all the hard working folks who are putting this event together. I'm anxious to learn when we "event only" folks will be able to make our reservations!

Have a wonderful day!

I like that "park-du-jour" idea!

That way, people get the chance to swarm the park with a bunch of friends, and they can feel free to break from the pack at any time. Maybe to do a ride that they just can't pass up...or shop like crazy...or see a show...or grab some food.

WDW Memory #118: I'll never foget when we stopped in the Morocco Pavilion at EPCOT. We had a little food, then wandered the "alleys" to see what was there. We found the rug shop, looked around a bit, and next thing you know, we'd been standing there for over an hour just talking to the CM working there. But learning about his country, and making a new friend, and being in that well-themed little shop.....for that hour, we were actually IN Morocco, not at a theme park in Florida.

It's those special, quiet, unique little things that I don't want our kids to miss. Not so much that actual event, but the feeling I had, and still have to this day, about where we were. I want everyone to forget where we are, and let ourselves be consumed by the environment around us, so that we might live just for that moment, instead of stressing about the past, or worrying about the future. And I want this to happen A LOT! ;)

Sorry, I just got carried away, but after not getting that at all during our last visit to DL, it has become an obsession of mine.

A slightly different take on Peggysue's idea about the ornaments. Maybe we could all bring one with us, decorate the tree and then on the last day we could raffle them off or sell them for $5. a piece or auction them off, and then give the money raised from this to Give Kids the World.

That would be a great tie-in for "give the kids the world". It would help create awareness for this charity and it would be nice to be giving to others while we are so fortunate to be on a fabulous vacation - should help us to appreciate our trip a little more! Just wanted to say good thinking! :)

Because I'm not sure what all it is. BUT, I'd like to add a twist to the DIS tree decorating. At my kids' school, the decorate their tree every year with gloves, stocking hats, mittens and warm socks. Then they wrap boy toys like cars, and girl toys like dolls, and put them under the tree as well.
<<Since it is close to Christmas, how about a holiday ornament swap meet? Every family make/buy an ornament that represents either their home town or Disney, then have a pre-holiday meet and draw numbers for an ornament swap.>>

I collect orniments and I'd love to do something like the above!! Even paying $5.00 for a "special" ornament from our WDW DIS 2001 Trip would be delightful!

Gosh oh Gosh, Pete and Linda, hope you read all this great stuff too!! As many others, I could volunteer for helping out. Not sure what, but I'm sure that I could help with something. With as many of us willing to help, we shouldn't be any one person haveing to be tied down to do it all. Know What I Mean?! Cause I for one would like to spend time at WDW and I'd like to meet Pete and Linda!!

I just wanted to reitterate (sp.?) that I will be arriving 4 days earlier, so I would be very, very happy if you would let me help with the set-up and the Welcome Reception. This is definitely one of my strengths! ;)

DH and my mohter will be with me, so I can easily get away to do this. :) Plus we asked to stay at the BC/YC, so I'll be close too. :D

...can't wait, can't wait...

How about a solo convention-goers meet? We can meet for a few hours and ride all the rides we are scared to ride alone.

I hope we are still having a corn eating contest. :)

I was thinking today that we could have a Buzz Lightyear shoot-off. The person with the highest score by a certain time or number of rides wins a prize!

Barry, I like both of your ideas! The solo meet/ride fest and the Buzz Lightyear shooting contest! Buzz is one of my favorite rides!! And, it's not that I'm afraid to ride anything alone, it's just much more fun screaming in someone's ear! ;) Count me in! :)
Robin, LOL!! :D

I was just thinking...how about a ride-a-thon on one of the rides, like RnR Coaster or Test Track? The last man or woman standing gets a prize!

Robin can do the Hall of Presidents ride-a-thon. :)
