It's still Tuesday, you overachiever!!! (We're in the same timezone, I'm not fooled)
Hello, Dearies!!!
So much to catch up. Remember when I joked I'd check on my bees in a week or so if they hadn't flown away? That was a JOKE. That is *NOT* supposed to happen!!! Guess what one of the new colonies did??? On the bright side, they only got as far as my neighbor's rose arbor (I can't really blame them, her yard *IS* the prettiest on the block...) On the downside, that's how I spent the afternoon yesterday, and then again today getting some of the stragglers that were too dumb to fly home to a hive only 20 feet away on the other side of the fence... And I'll go back and check one more time tomorrow. To catch them, you spray them with sugar water, which makes it so they can't fly, then you kind of scooch them into a box... but bunches ended up down in the grass, and I have to see if they come together in a mass again or not...
And while I was over in the neighbor's yard doing that today, my 15-year-old goofy child went into "toddler mode" and dumped an entire tube of super-fine glitter in her hair. (I'm not sure what exactly she was trying to do, but that was the end result.) It didn't vacuum out, it didn't wash out... I took her on the back porch and brushed her hair and it looked like Tinkerbell on crack and there was *STILL* a ton of it left at the end. On her, in her hair, on her clothes, on me, all over the house. So yeah, that was my evening, covered in sugar (from the bees) and glitter... like a bad movie about Vegas... We are going to be cleaning glitter out of the house and sparkling like vampires for MONTHS!!! It's EVERYWHERE!!!
My motivation for Monday *WAS* the peaceful quiet after I finished my latest statistics test... my husband was out of town for a family thing, and it was just me and the kittens for a few beautiful moments... then DD15 came home... then the neighbor came over... etc. For Topic Tuesday... I don't really have a good pattern for weighing, I used to track weight every Monday, but secretly check almost every day... but then we changed it so that H cooks on Friday and the kids cook on the weekend-- that is *NOT* a recipe for a happy Monday morning... lots of processed food and salt, heavy sauces, etc. So I've been working on switching back to Fridays... and then I forget!
We are still figuring out what to do for DD11's teachers for teacher appreciation week-- she has 4 core teachers and only has ideas for 2 of them... For DD15, there are not only the teachers, but aides, techs, counselors, etc, and they all do SO much for the kids. We wanted to do something for them, but couldn't be sure how much sugary stuff they'd be getting from everyone else... So this year we just went with an enormous basket of strawberries and a note about how at least it wasn't apple-themed...
