Day Five: Conquoring Everest!
When we got to the waiting area for Yak & Yeti, it was packed in the lobby! Luckily we didn't have to wait too long. Once we were inside in the cold, Andy was already freezing! We were sat upstairs by a window. It was a great spot to people watch.
We ordered some drinks and an appetizer since we were STARVING by now. We had skipped lunch and were def hungry!
I ordered these 2 lovely drinks:
Everest Refresher
Sparkling Water with Cucumber, Passion Fruit, or Desert Pear Flavors
I chose Desert Pear flavor. And it was really good. Morgan was able to get one as well with her kid meal and she picked Passion Fruit.
Pink Himalayan
Tanqueray, Gin, Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice, Passion Fruit and Lemon Grass Flavors, Salt Rim
This was just ok. It was a little strong for my liking and I actually don't like a salted rim, which I should have asked them to skip but didn't... It was good. Just not one I am dreaming about getting again.
For an appetizer we ordered:
Dim Sum Basket
Pork pot stickers, shrimp siu mai, cha su bao and pork siu mai steamed on a banana leaf, soy lime dipping sauce
This was all very good! The girls love pot stickers so, they grabbed those. They also liked the Shrimp siu mai... They did not like the Steamed buns... But the appetizer hit the spot and tied us over till our food came.
Our main meals came next. Andy and I decided to split two things:
Korean BBQ Ribs
Half rack of slow roasted St. Louis pork ribs, zesty BBQ sauce, crispy shoestring fries, kimchi slaw.
They were good. Not great and not terrible. Just good. I did like the BBQ sauce on them and the BBQ sauce on the fries was kind of good. I didn't try the Kimchi Slaw, I am NOT a fan of Kimchi!
And a special of the day: Buffalo Shrimp Tacos.
These look WAY better than they tasted! They were super salty and dry! Boo. I was so looking forward to them. We ate them just fine, but they sounded and looked so much better than they actually were.
Pretty that Morgan got a Cheeseburger here and Gwen got Mini Corn Dog Bites. That they ate all of and said tasted good. No pictures, sorry. But pretty sure they both looked like well, what you would image with both.
But then it was time for Desert and half the reason that I wanted to come here!!! I wanted to try these Cream Cheese Wontons!!!! I guess I was too excited when they came, because I didn't take a picture of them... I think we ordered 2 of them and the girls got ice cream... I have to say the kid desserts at some places is kind of lame...
Ok, don't hate me... I didn't like them... The cream cheese inside needed to be a little sweeter for me. But I am not a huge cheesecake fan. So, that might have something to do with it. Andy and Morgan LOVED them... Gwen and I pretty much ate the strawberries and the drizzle that came with the wontons. That was Delish! I could of just had that and been happy. We were stuffed by that point anyway!
The girls had been watching people waiting to be called by this statue directly below from us. And Gwen really wanted to get a picture by it. But when we went down there were people waiting in the spot Gwen wanted to do it at. And I said that we could just take the picture on the other side... This was apparently NOT acceptable..
This is the best picture I got. Sigh... We left the area with Gwen all angry and then 10 feet away we found a bubble cart and were able to get Gwen a refill on her bubble wand. And she was magically happy again!
We had serious business to take care of next! On our last trip, Gwen was too short to ride Everest. She was super sad about it. But they gave her a card that said she would use the fastness line when we was tall enough. (Which I forgot to bring this trip!) But she was super excited to give it a try. And Morgan HATED it when we went the first time. But she said she was try it again if Gwen was going on it.
We measured Gwen for good measure! Well above the height needed! Woo Hoo!
Morgan was super nervous about going on the ride again, but i was excited that we were all going to get to ride together!
Andy and Morgan got there names on the ads in the que. Which was fun. You have to pay attention to it. I can see a lot of people totally missing it!
There was a lot of "discussion" over who got to ride with me on the ride. Morgan really wanted to go with me since she was not so sure of going on the ride. And of course, Gwen also wanted to ride with me since it was her first time. We managed to get Morgan to agree on Gwen getting the first round. So, how did the girls like it?
This is Gwen's poker face that isn't really a poker face... She HATED it!!!! I think it was mostly the new yeti that kind of hangs down that she didn't like. But I think she also liked it deep down..
Morgan on the other hand LOVED IT!!!! She got off jumping up and down and saying how amazing it was!
She wanted to go again with me this time and the wait time was like 20 minutes (I think). So we said we could, but Gwen wasn't so sure she wanted to ride again. After much talking, we convinced her that Andy would tell her when to close her eyes for the yeti. So, we got in line to ride again!
We chatted with a woman and her daughter while in line. The que here was great as well! Did I take pictures... I did but they all didn't come out great, so I will spare you all. The woman was saying that they always come this time of year and this was the busiest she had ever seen it. Which I was guessing was the case, I had always heard that it was dead in September and it was NOT that. We both decided that it was because of the hurricane, a lot of people probably pushed there vacation back a week. But who knows...
The wait was probably 20 minutes exactly but soon we were here ready to ride again!
The adults might have been more excited than the kids...
Gwen was in pretty good spirits for going a second time! I think she was saying something here about us being embarrassing in the picture above. ...
The ride the second time was just as good as the first time! I think Gwen liked it a little better but maintained her stance that she didn't like it... Stubborn little thing!
After this, we were talking about what we wanted to do. Gwen wanted to ride Dinosaur again but it was going the wrong direction. We wanted to walk through Pandora on the way out to see it lit up. And then Morgan remembered that she wanted to do the Safari at night! So, we headed that way.
We stopped in Zuri's Sweet Shop. I wanted to burn some snack credits! Morgan and Gwen wanted to do those powdered Sugar Sticks. And the medium size was considered a snack credit so we said go for it. They started filling them up and Morgan filled her with too much of one flavor and she was getting upset about it. I wasn't really sure what to do. So, I told her she was out of luck. But a CM happened to come over ask how we were doing. Morgan told her her delima and the CM just told her to start a new one. She hung out with us and talked to the girls about all the flavors and stuff. And helped them fill up there tubes. And then I let the girls pick something from the bakery area. Again the cast member talked to them about all the different choices. I honestly don't remember what they picked out. I want to say animal shaped cookies? Andy picked something as well. And i grabbed a couple bags of snack credit worthy candy. Probably gummy bugs, they are surprisingly really good!
We traded in 2 Counter Service Credits for 6 Snacks! I had asked earlier in the day if I could do that at the Pandora Store but they said that they could not do that here. But directed me to Zuri's. So, just so you folks know... Not sure why all places can't do it... Which it was a bit to get them to convert the counter service to snack credits! And thank goodness that CM was there. She helped the folks working figure it out.
Once that was all settled we headed out and towards the Safari! We ran into another CM on our way, I am not sure why, but we ended up stopping and talking to her as well. She was really nice and told us to have a great time on the Safari. There was NO one around this area. I assume everyone was in Pandora or Rivers of Light.
We walked on the Safari and were off on our really dark ride. I have NO pictures worth posting here. It was dark and my phone camera wasn't doing well with it. It was fun. But REALLY dark! As everyone has said. Morgan was super happy to have done it. But I def don't think we need to do it again unless it was like this night, with no wait and why not? right?
After our ride in the dark we headed up to Pandora to see all of the Bioluminous.
It was cool to see, but I don't think we were over wow'd by it.
It was def checking out.
The girls were more impressed by my backpack and all things that were glowing that should have been glowing... Ha.
We headed out for the night. We wanted to get on a bus before the Rivers of Light folks started streaming out. I don't think we waited too too long. And I don't remember anything super eventful about the ride back. When we got back to the room, the girls found this...
This was even more funny than the night before! They loved it.
It was another good day. A bit more relaxing day at Animal Kingdom than there first. But a good one!
Up next, our last day.
