Yes, he got in trouble at school this week.
Yes, he got frustrated and angry with his brother.
Yes, he has his many quirks.
But by golly DS10 is the most enthusiastic altar server to ever wear a robe. :yay:
Other parishioners get a kick out of him and we are proud. :thumbsup2 Our school district's autism specialist was at church tonight and really enjoyed his efforts. Kudos to Father Bob for his patience and sense of humor.
Isn't it great when our church families support us and our kids?!?

:thumbsup2
Nice that your church is welcoming to him.

Thanks for giving me something so special to smile about this morning. That's such great news about your son! ---Kathy

That is just great. You should be proud of him! :thumbsup2

That is so nice!!! I wish my church was so understanding. The congregation consists of mostly older adults and they just don't understand. So we don't go anymore. My son is more important to my than those people.

Congratulations to your son and keep up the great work. :sunny:

Thank you everybody! This is the best place to go for encouragement! :disrocks:

Congrats! What a great parish!
My son, 9, CP, developmental disabilities, just made his First Reconciliation last week. Our priest is a little hard line, so I was a wreck, but he took it in stride. I said--"No way will he be able to memorize the act of contrition", and he said, "I will say part, and he can repeat it. God will know what's in his heart." How refreshing!

I had to smile at your post. My DS with Down Syndrome is now 18 and he loves to be the acolyte at our church services. He tells the Pastor what to do. He's been doing it for years. It is great to have a church that embraces all. Nasi
