Thanks everyone! Sounds like I'm definitely going to miss stumbling out of my hotel at 5:00am in Disneyland hahaha.
There are maps in the event guide which is released 2-4 weeks before the race weekend, but since this is a new race there are no maps from previous races to look at. I've heard people say it appears to be the reverse of W&D.Signing up for the 1/2...thinking about the 10K too. I'm a trail runner and can do the distance on the trails with no prob but road surfaces and my knees don't get along So may just do the 1/2. Does Disney ever release maps of the courses?
No parking garage - for the half I think we can safely assume parking will be at EP, since that's where the race starts and it's the largest lot. I imagine they'll then have buses to drive folks back from the finish at WWOS to their cars at EP. I often stay at non-host hotels for races and have no problem: I leave plenty early (whatever time the host buses start running? That's when I go, too) and know my way around well. I'm not sure I'd want to do it as an infrequent WDW driver, though; just one more thing to worry about. This might just be my first WDW race after 4 years of Disneyland races and I have a question for the WDW veterans...is it really important to stay at one of the "host hotels" so that I can use the resort transportation on race day? Is getting to the parking garage really as bad as the runDisney site makes it seem?
Not necessarily - all resorts are official hosts for Marathon and Princess weekends bu the other race weekends at WDW have been smaller and only a handful of resorts are hosts. My guess is this one will be about on par with a W&D or ToT race weekend, so likely not all resorts will be hosts. So will every hotel provide transportation to the start line?
Nothing but crickets so far...Has anyone heard anything about the host resorts? Like from a TA or someone who might hear before it is official?
So excited for this! I want to do the dark side challenge...doing Dopey in January but can't resist a Star Wars themed race!
Can anyone confirm that DVC members will also get the early registration opportunity like AP holders?
I have to admit that I'm pretty stinking excited that a Star Wars race is being added at WDW. I've been wanting to Run Disney for a while, but I was never very athletic. Started running last year, feeling a bit more confident, and then they add THIS! YES!
I think we're both going to start training for the 10K. I'm a bit freaked out, but I'm hoping with a lots of practice (and a good bit of time), we'll be set to go in April.
Reading through this thread, I'm astounded by the number of people doing challenges! Wow! I don't feel confident enough for those 1/2 or full marathons, but I will definitely cheer on those who are (and those who are going all-out and doing all the things)!
Ok. This has become a sickness. I can't help myself with each race that is announced. I am already in for 2016 for the Marathon Weekend half marathon, the rebel challenge, the glass slipper challenge and the pixie dust challenge. Looked at this thread after work today and saw the new Star Wars race in Orlando. I have already booked my hotel room. I wonder if I can book one more DL race and get 3 coast to coast medals? (pink, star wars, blue). I know...this is a sickness.
In my opinion for the hype that is going on everywhere,
AP & DVC sell out in 5 to 10 minutes.
General public sell out in 15 to 30 minutes.
I am in for the challenge.
It's going to sell out fast,no doubt about that, but not that fast.I think mostly due to the lack of time to plan between the announcement/registration date and the race itself, just not enough time to plan the trip.I think they would also be smart to have at least 20,000 for the half.I predict less than an hour for AP/DVC and less than 2 hours for the regular registration. In my opinion for the hype that is going on everywhere,

I feel like the host hotels are usually listed when registration opens... but TBH I never book that early, so I've never been looking for the info.Does anyone know when they typically announce what hotels are host hotels? This is my first RunDisney race so I am getting familiar with the process.
I keep going back and forth on this one... I don't think it'll be a slow sellout, but I just can't tell just how much interest there is beyond our little rD world. I wouldn't be surprised to see sellouts within the first hour, but I also wouldn't be surprised to see the half linger for a while. It'll be interesting to see what happens. I hope to be in and out quickly so I can sit back and watch!Has anything ever sold out that quickly? That's kind of unnerving! I know I was reading that the Wine and Dine sold out in something like 30 minutes last time, so I suppose anything is possible. Guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed.

We're planning to run, have multiple family members to register and very nervous about this selling out so quickly. My fear is one of us not getting in. The timing isn't great, it's 2 weeks after spring break here and we already had a vacation booked. We'll have to pull DS out of school at least one day and take off work 2 weeks after taking off work for spring break. Luckily my boss understands my love of Disney. I'm hoping with this being so close to spring break and most people already having plans for that week that this will go a little slower and the 3 of us will get in.
