OK here I go....My first ever TR! DAY 5 ON PAGE 21

Hey Cathy! I know that drive well being a fellow GP’er, best time on a straight run for me was 11 1/2hrs. The things we do for Disney, aye? Great pics from DLR and Universal …and yes, looks like your DD has some attitude, but she has to with two older brothers aye? ;)

Great shot of you and your hubby on the good ole Oregon coast – enjoy the sun but pack a jacket :lmao:

I am sorry to hear about your mom’s passing but that is so wonderful that you and your sister were able to spend such a magical time with her, her smile says it all. :)

Ahhh, you have a little hyper female poodle too aye? We have two male CockaPoos and one female Toy …and she runs the place.

I like your list of things to see, and we really enjoyed Aladdin in 2005 but somehow we didn’t make time for it last fall and I regret it. And I’ve heard similar things about Universal Studios in CA – we went to US in Orlando and it was a lot of fun, mostly due to the fact that it expanded the idea of US in CA and then added an entire second theme park called Islands of Adventure that really fills out the place with some really fantastic rides. And they’re doing that who Harry Potter thing there now, my kids REALLY want to go back.

What a bummer about your friend not being able to go, and you are right about having an odd number. Our trip last fall was 5 people and it lead to some problems since most rides are 2-seaters. I hope your friend is able to find a way to come.

More great pictures, and I used the excuse that I was getting over the flu to not ride Grizzly when we were there ;-]

On the Goofy’s Kitchen Dinner I gave it a “thumbs-up”. We did it last October and it was a great way to end the day. We had a good meal, had great character interactions, then after the food settled my DW and I went up to the room and the kids played in the pool (we were staying at DLH for the first time). And I know your hesitation about taking pics of food – I can take literally 1,000 pics in a day and still can’t bring myself to take a picture of a plate of food.

As far as the extra day, why not take a cheesy stars bus tour? Just make sure the kids have their iPods to keep themselves entertained. Oh, and if you get a chance try Pink’s Hot Dog Stand on Melrose – best freakin’ hot dogs around and lots of star sightings there. :thumbsup2

Great PTR – looking forward to hearing more! :woohoo:

Thanks for all your great comments! Yeah the last time we drove we left at 4am and we checked into the motel at exactly 4pm and that was including the stops we made...so were "planning" on doing this again. Hoping for a good dinner that night at Ralph Brennans, then sleeping well on that full stomach in preperation for the next days fun filled adventure!

That picture of my husband was taken may 2006 when he came down from Alaska to see me ( he lived there, I lived here) and I took him to Brookings. Its kinda been the place we always end up, first date, where he proposed, honeymoon, and now where we take the 5th wheel on vacation several times a year...for some reason that beach and little town just draws us in! :confused3

I am sooooo glad we got to go with my mom after she was diagnosed. That kind of news just shocks you and you realize that your life could end at any point. Really makes you not put things off and really take afvantage of the time you have TODAY. She was always such a healthy person and I think we always just figured that she would always be here for us. I'm trying not to think about it, but Im sure I will have a hard time dealing with her death while im there. I can remember specifically when we were there the last time we went on Pirates, we had the boat to ourselves and my sister and my mom and I knew it was her last time riding and as that boat slowly made its way up that last ramp into the unloading area we just all looked at eachother and cried. It was so hard and I know im going to have to deal with that while im there, but im going to work thru it and also remember the fun times we had :)

I love Goofys kitchen and cant wait to eat there again, just have to get off my butt and make my PS, also need to make one for Carnation Cafe!

and im 99% sure we are going to take a bus tour, just have to let DH know! He is a truck driver (he drives those double-tanker fuel trucks) and usually likes to be in control of the wheel but hey, this is vacation! sit back and relax babe! thats what im gonna tell him ;-)

OK enough rambling, need to do some laundry and get some groceries before I pick those crazy kids up from school!

Malibu is a pretty good distance from Hollywood and Disneyland. I have a friend that lives in that area and I will ask him where the best beach area would be for you to go to.

We decided after seeing all the yummy food on here, that we made it a point to take pics......I'll go upload some of the "food porn" from our trip last year in my PTR.........delicious!!

I talked to my friend and the beach that would probably be closest to Hollywood and Beverly Hills would be Santa Monica.

We've never done the bus touring thing....kids are too young....but the traffic down there is horrible....letting someone else do the driving sounds pretty good.

Keep in mind if you do walk around the Hollywood Walk of Fame area, that it is not as glorious & beautiful as you might imagine it is. We were shocked by how filthy the stars were, broken by tree roots, gum, garbage, etc. The shops that surround these are head shops, more adult themed should we say.....we also saw a number of homeless people on the sidewalks.
If you go to Mann's Chinese Theater be forewarned that it will be mobbed with people in costumes. Anthony saw Spiderman & was so excited!!! I pulled out my camera to snap a picture....they'll gladly pose for a pic.....for a price!!!!!

Our plan is to go to the Disney Soda Fountain & pretty much get outta there!!

Hope that didn't scare you off from your plans........ :scared1: That's not what I was trying to do....just didn't want you to be shocked & disappointed....like we were.

We went the last time we were there and like you were absolutely astonished at how unkept the streets were...Our only plan is to go to the soda fountain and then hightail it outta there! I still havent talked to DH about the bus tour or anything else, I guess I should get working on that! Thanks for the advice! :cutie:

A few years ago Scotty and I were down there working out with Richard Simmons. One thing we visited that I absolutely loved was Rodeo Drive. I was thrilled to see all the stores, and it was cool.

I know my daughters and son think I am nuts, I didn't care whether I visited the stores I was thrilled to see like Jimmy Choo, and such. Shops that I was familiar with because of Sex and the City.

Yesterday I found out that my sister and her family are leaving for DL on thursday Feb 11! This is so exciting, she is a Disney nut! Her and her husband have been taking their two kids (Niece 13 and Nephew 8) for as long as I can remember! She is also a collector of DL memorabilia...I cant wait for them to go and bring back some cool pics and tell us all about their trip! We tried to coordinate a trip so that we could all go, since we havent gone with both of our familes together but she is in school right now and those were the only days she could take off. I am so excited for her! woohoo!!!!

Oh how fun. And how neat that you can get an idea about the parks from your sister and how near to when you are going.

Yesterday I made a binder with all of our information in it. this is so weird for me, ive never done anything like this...What does this mean? Ive become a super planner? LOL Do I need to seek out help for this new found obsession? what do I do?? :confused3

I think I will just sit back and enjoy my new found hobby and stick to what I do best, think about my up-coming trip to DL!

Good Girl on the binder!!!! If you recall my binder was a good 2" thick by the time we were ready to leave......don't forget to put together a small purse size book to track PS, entertainment & things you dont' want to miss to take into the park with you.....then you'll be an official uber-planner!!!!!! :woohoo:

First off, I love your PTR!! I can't wait to see all your pictures and here about your stay at the Motel6 (me and DH are going to be staying there in June).

And to comment on this comment....it is totally true! I went there for the first time last May and it wasn't what I expected at all. I was actually chased by a midget dressed up as the Chucky doll holding a plastic knife. And while that may be fine for adults, it can be scary for younger children. Heck, it scared me...ALOT!! And there is lots of men dressed as women with inappropiate shirts. We actually saw a man dressed up as the Little Mermaid.
Its just a really iffy place.

ps--sorry if i rambled too much. i tend to have that issue too.

We were there once before November 2008 and I really didnt like it at all....My only plan is to go to the Disney Soda Fountain and then high-tail it outta there!

Thanks for reading my TR, cant wait to go! We also stayed at the Motel6 for our trip last nov but I am more excited this time because from the looks of the pictures and the hotel website they have remodeled their rooms to give them a more european look, I'll be sure to take pics and give a full report when I get back!

Wow only 25 days to go! I first started planning this trip in November 2009 so it seems like forever for this trip to get here! Im the kind of person who (on a weds) decides that they have nothing to do this weekend and plans a quick trip and then were outta there. lol I never have this much time and the wait is killing me!
It doenst help that my sister is leaving tomorrow and I went shopping with her yesterday for all of her last minute stuff. grrrr im so ready to leave! I talked with my DH and we might just add one more day to the DL schedule instead of taking a day and doing something else, the price difference is so small and it would be great to get an extra day to just hang out and explore DL...

Who knows, I can never make up my mind and im sure whatever we decide it wont happen till the day we get there anyway!
enough babbling im off to get the kiddos ready for their day!
