Because we couldn't have all our friends and family down to the intimate wedding at Disney, we knew we had to do something special for everyone back home. But I couldn't fathom having to plan an at home reception and deal with my final semester of law school.
Plus, I felt bad asking people to travel upwards of 6 hours to come to a big party.
So the idea of the wedding tour was born. The plan? 4 locations over 4 weekends in July. Instead of people coming to us, we'd go to them. It would give me something to do on my month off, it would be something low-key and unique. PERFECT.
So I set off to create a wedding announcement/invitation. My mom had found the disney wedding cards at WDW for $5, so I knew I had to do something with them. So I fiddled around a bit and came up with this...
But it wasn't quite enough for a wedding tour. After all, if you're touring like rockstars, there should be some tickets, right? Well a little googling, and I found out that you can get custom tickets made. So I did:
There was actually 6 different tickets made for the different days and locations. Each group of friends/family received a bunch of tickets for their day. It was all sent in the same envelope as the wedding announcement.
After that was done it was time to wait and wait for July to come. Did I say wait? Well, that's not exactly true. It was time for me to study, study, study. In the time between March, when the invites went out and July I had 2 sets of exams. A month of law school exams to finish off 3rd year, and then an additional month of the liscencing exams. I was so mentally exhausted I thought about cancelling the tour once or twice. But in the end, all was well and I relaxed a bit after my graduation.
So all was well and the tour was on as scheduled until....dun dun dun....DH gets a new job that requires him to work every weekend of July
What will happen? Will the tour be cancelled? Will we drive all over Ontario and get to visit our friends?
Stay tuned...
