Day 11 - Departure Day
I made an ADR for Cape May Cafe for breakfast. I always make our last breakfast or lunch at our resort hotel. It makes it so much easier for last minute packing and dropping off luggage when you are not running around trying to get somewhere before leaving WDW. The resorts offer curbside luggage drop off until noon, regardless of what time your flight is and regardless of whether or not you are using the magical express. If you have an early morning flight, you must have your luggage to them at least 3 hours prior to your flight departing. They are opened from 5am until noon, so Im not sure how it works for someone with a flight earlier than 8am. They also give you your boarding pass, so when you get to the airport, you only need to go through security before boarding.
Our breakfast reservation was for 8:30am and our flight was at 2pm, so it was very convenient to bring our luggage out as we were headed to breakfast! Th CM manning the service was very thorough. He weighed our bags to make sure we did not exceed the 50 lbs limit. We did in one suitcase and had to do some quick repacking on the sidewalk! But hey...it saved us the fee the airline would have charged for it being over the limit! Lucky for me it was only a metter of swapping some rice crispy treats from one suitcase to another. I was also very happy we bought all those backpacks! We did have to use one as an extra "personal item" carryon to get back more souvenirs.
We made it over to the Beach Club in time for our reservation, though did have a short wait before being seated. This restaurant is very popular!
Cape May Cafe is a buffet and Mickey Waffles called my name! No omelet station here and the offerings were a little less than most of the breakfast buffets we had been to.
Characters were Donald, Minnie and Goofy.
He knows he has to eat up because there is no breakfast buffet at my house!!!
The characters took a little long to get to our table, so we didnt leave until about 10:00am. Still finished a couple of hours before we needed to head to the airport, so my daughter and husband went to the arcade while I sat outside enjoying the warm air for my last time. Im from New England and it had been in the 30's the whole time I was away! Lucky for me it was 55 when I got home, but the next day it dropped again and has really not been above 40 - 45 since, with the exception of the past couple of days.
The arcade is quite large, I just got a quick shot when I opened the door to get in....
We returned to the room around 11 and gathered our carry-ons. DD and DH went over to Hurricane Hannahs by the pool to refill their mugs one last time. We also went over to the Marketplace to cash out the rest of our snack credits and dining credits. We had 6 dining credits left over. The average value of each is about $30 - $35. They let you trade in a credit, regardless if its quick service, TS or Deluxe TS for 3 snacks. Now if you had QS credits left, that would be great, but ours were deluxe so kind of a rip off, but better than nothing! 18 more snacks! YIKES...where are we going to carry this stuff!
We went to our car around 11:30 and headed for the airport. In 2015, doing the same thing there was a lot of construction and detours near the airport. There were signs directing traffic, but they suddenly stopped. Before I knew it, we were in Key West! Ok, so not Key West, but a good 20 minutes beyond where we needed to be! I was hoping it wouldnt be the same and it wasnt. We dropped of the POC with ease. I was given my receipt and not charged a dime more than I should have been. Thank you Hertz! We got into the airport, headed towards our gate and YIKES!!!! The security lines were terrible. Just like the last time. MCO is truly horrible and I strongly advise arrive at least 2 hours before any flight.
We waited a good hour, probably a bit more to get through security. We only stopped to use the restroom quickly and it was time to board. I was on a jetblue flight and pre picked my seat, row 3. It was to be a small plane with 2 seats, an aisle, then 2 seats on the other side. No first class or business class. To my surprise, they changed planes to a larger plane. They kept our seat assignment, 3rd row and not only did we end up in business class (there was still no first class), but there was nobody on the other side of the aisle because each side had 3 seats and we were suppose to have 3 of the original 4 in that row. AND, nobody was on any of the rows behind us until about row 6 !!!! So, I had a whole row of 3 to myself, my daughter moved over to the other side of the aisle and had that whole row of 3 and my DH sat behind me and had a whole row just for him too! Wahoooo....so comfy!! TONS of leg room too. I slept the whole way home.
This was taken before we realized nobody was ever to sit in the seats behind us or beside us.... We moved right after!
And that was my 10 night/11 day vacation
