On our next trip to DL (Nov 4-12) we plan on spending one evening in Palm Springs and were wondering if anyone has seen the Palm Springs Follies and if so, is it worth the $85.00 per person ticket price?

No, sorry. But frankly I don't get Palm Springs. We stopped there 6/05 on our way home from CA & it didn't seem very interesting. What is the attraction for people?

If you want to watch a bunch of old folks preform on stage - then it is fun. Many people raved about it. I for one would rather see Broadway LA type plays that are current run with current actors/actresses. Not community theater with "old people" as performers. (not bashing old folks - just not my choice of where to spend my money).

I'm not much of a PS fan either. It is for the older richer generation - golf, shopping, spa, shopping, eating, golf, eating, spa, etc. It is an escape from the bright lights and city. And its way too hot for me.

I used to live in the Palm Springs/Palm Desert area and it is beautiful, I think back on it and it was like being on vacation everyday (I worked at a resort) but I don't know that I'd go out of my way to visit to see something like that. It is a laid back area and believe it or not people under 65 live there but there isn't tons of excitement going on. If you like hiking and outdoors stuff you would enjoy a visit there for sure.

I know nothing about the Follies, however we love the Palm Springs/Palm Desert area and during the colder months, we visit often.

I guess it was too much like home! It's hot in Scottsdale, AZ .... we have great golf, dining, shopping, spas....why go somewhere else for it when it's all right here? ;)

I am the OP of this thread and the only reason we happen to be going to Palm Springs is that the airmiles seats on WestJet (have to fly WestJet because they require a lot less airmiles than Air Canada when you have a Mosaik mastercard) are completely booked from Calgary to LA but we were able to get seats from Calgary to Palm Springs instead.

We were in DL in May and drove out to Palm Springs to the Cabazon Outlet Mall for a day trip and didn't find the drive bad at all and the area around Palm Springs was very scenic so we decided that if it came down to flying into Palm Springs airport or not being able to go to DL at all we would gladly drive an extra hour or so.

Our plan is to fly into Palm Springs airport on the 4th of Nov and head straight to DL and then head back to Palm Springs on Nov 11 and stay the night before flying back the next day.

Has anyone had any experience with the Palm Springs Airport is it fairly easy to navigate, I would imagine it is a lot easier than LAX plus our hotel is only 3 miles away from the airport so I'm thinking that it will take a lot of the stress off of my hubby. In the past we were always a little bit stressed that we would get caught up in traffic leaving DL for LAX but that should not be a problem in Palm Springs.

I guess we will skip the Follies, it does not sound like our cup of tea, instead we will probably head back to the Cabazon outlet for some shopping. Is there any other outlet malls or neat places to shop around Palm Springs, also does anyone have any suggestions of what to do for our one evening there, maybe a good place to eat or another site not to miss, I notice that they have some kind of tram rides in the dessert, not sure what it is all about but I thought I read that they also run at night although that seems a bit scary.

We can't go to the casino as we have our dd with us.

Thanks for any advice.
