Me-40: lover of theme parks and roller coasters
Dh-44: very understanding guy, would rather be sitting under a palm tree somewhere
ds-12- doesnt like anything with big hills but loves simulator rides
dd-7- will probably be riding hulk as soon as shes tall enough!
In general the wait times were very light. Of course, we went on the slowest days during one of the slowest times of year. Posted wait times of 5-10 min were common. If you re interested in where we ate please see my separate restaurant post.
Today was our day to do the things we missed at both parks and do our favorites again.
Breakfast was at the Ponderosa near the hotel. The kids liked it because of the buffet. All I can say is youd better like butter, $25 incl drinks
On to Universal first:
We hit the first show at Twister, 9:30. The first room shows clips from the movie and footage of real tornadoes. They give it so much of a build up that by the time we got to the final room (which isnt scary in itself) my poor daughter was petrified.
Next MIB twice, it was a walk on. Then we rode Back to the Future, also a walk on. We got a terrible car, last one on the right. But it was still fun.
Earthquake was next, No wait. I like the pre -show! I think its funny to watch people try to play their parts without laughing. On the ride portion, my dd was really scared. The kids went to Fievels play area. There were many characters around for a meet and greet. We saw Scooby Do, Fievel and another mouse and others I cant remember. My kids will not have their picture taken with any characters! Geez, I would if there wasnt a line.
Were done at Universal so we make our way to Island of Adventure. Its warm out today so were playing on going on some water rides.
First stop, Carroseussel in Seuss landing. Then we went to Dueling Dragon. The kids waited in the baby swap room while dh and I rode Ice.
Next we make our way over to Toon Lagoon. "Blutos bilge rat barge ride is first. Son doesnt want to ride so hes going to water cannons at the top of Me ship the Olive. He wanted to try to shoot us as we passed. My husband purchases a poncho for himself and dd. He knows hell still get wet but is hoping it will cut down on the sogginess. We brought a change of clothes and I have my bathing suit on. We use the express line but its very poorly marked. We almost ended up walking back through the exit. Very fun, cold wet ride! Our ds meets us at the exit and is very disappointed. He didnt get to squirt us because someone was hogging the cannons. I forgot there were pay one, 25c, on the bridge near the ride. Hubby and I want to ride again but daughter doesnt, so we bribed her! Son got to squirt us good the second time so everyone was happy. I should note that the poncho did keep dh from getting as drenched as usual, but not by much!
Stopped for lunch at the Comic Strip Café. Its pretty standard cafeteria selections but the kids and I ate cheaply here. We had pizza, beans, rice and 3 milks for $13. Dh got a chicken basket for $6 and a flat Budweiser for $5.
Back to Jurassic Park so kids can play in Camp Jurassic again. If they ever build an amusement park called Playground land my kids would be in their glory. We stopped at the Discovery Center. My son loves the dinosaur trivia game you play against other people. Its a fun area if you like dinosaurs.
Husband and son are done for the day but dd and I are still in Theme park mode! So the boys take the boat back to the hotel. I was surprised I was able to maintain frs radio contact with dh even as far as the hotel! But they didnt work on the water taxis.
Dd and I go on the Unicorn coaster, One fish-two fish, Cat in the hat ride,
and of course, one last ride on Spiderman. (Am I bringing this girl up right or what?!)
We stop for t-shirts and souvenirs then its back to the hotel. Boy are our feet tired!
For supper we went to the Trattatoria. It was very disappointing. The food was ok but very overpriced ($10 for a grilled cheese?). Service was substandard also.
