Has anyone gone to the pawn shop featured on the show??What are the chances of getting a picture taken with them?I read somewhere that they have a schedule posted somewhere. My DS loves this show, it would be a major highlight for him.

I think an answer from someone who has been there very recently would help.

From what I've heard popularity has waned quite a bit, and huge lines to get in the store have dissapeared. I'm not sure if they charge to get in or not, though it was true at one point.

Figure on a 45 minute wait in the mornings. No charge to get in. The "Cast" is only there when shooting the show or on rare occation.

Fun place to visit :thumbsup2 It's a fun stop to put together with a visit to Fremont St.

Cory was out when we went there in the summer of 2010. When we went in line though, he had to go. Here's a bad picture of him, it was the best I could get. We went in the afternoon.

I work occasionally as a camera operator on the show.

The chances of getting a picture with the owners is pretty slim. Easily 500
people a day show up wanting a picture. It can happen - it's just not easy.
I have never heard of a schedule being posted. If there is one, that would be
your best bet. Do you remember where you read about that?

My brother and I opted to go to the Clark County Museum instead to visit the curator (who is often on the show as an expert). He was super nice and the museum itself was pretty cool.

March 2010.

The place is (was) a dump, holes in the walls to go with the dirty floor. That said I'd recommend anyone who likes the show to go. Cory was in a chair in the back taking photos with people and talking with them. He was very personable and really seemed to get that their ratings comes from the fans and being nice to the fans is important. He was telling people they cant do pics at the counter, but they do come in for pics like I described above. I don't know what they currently do, but this is how it was when I was there.

The big security guard that sits by the front door on the show was also there when I was in the store.

I got dropped off in a cab, and was able to get another cab to leave in all from the shops very full parking lot. I spent more in cabs than in the store, actually only bought a fridge magnet a bumper sticker and a t-shirt for my kid.

When we went in there a sign that said they were there from 9 am to 3 pm. The line is long at the times they are there. We went toward the late afternoon and there was no line. No charge to get in. Dont know about the picture taking of them in the back room.

I was there in June 2010 but there was no one from the show there at that time. I think I recall seeing a sign about an upcoming taping when we were there. I know when they are taping though they only let a few people in the store at a time, and of course there is a line. I thought the place was pretty small compared to what it appears on tv. It was still interesting to visit even though no one was there. My DH loves the show, he bought a souvenir t-shirt. I am glad we went while we were there. We walked to the store from Fremont Street then cabbed it back to the strip. There was plenty of cabs in the parking lot.

The bus system called the duece, runs 24/7 for 7 dollars you can go to freemont and the strip for 24 hrs. Alot cheaper than a cab. I do it to go to different casinos.

We were just there in early December. Here is the bit from my trip report:

Since we were on our way downtown, we decided that this might be a good day to visit the Pawn Shop. It was still fairly early (about 10:00), so we were hoping the lines that we hear about wouldn’t be there. Sure enough, we get there and people seem to be going in without a wait. We park and notice that there is a camera crew filming someone in the corner of the parking lot. Our assumption was that it was somebody that sold something … they were filming the side commentary. We took our pictures with the pawn shop sign in the background and then proceeded into the store.

Again, there was a camera guy filming some documents laid out on the counter. None of the principals were around. We were told not to take any pictures until the camera person was done but then could take any we wanted as long as we didn’t point the camera in the direction of the office area. Like others have said, the place looked a lot smaller than what you see on TV. You were directed down one side (guns, etc) to the back (gift shop with t-shirts, etc) and then up the other side (jewelry, etc). Both of us had just read the book by Rick Harrison and really had a new respect for these folks. The book was for sale there – both signed and unsigned; however, I was hoping to buy a Chum Lee t-shirt. None of them really looked like something I would wear, so I ended up with a pink Pawn Stars t-shirt for $23. I don’t really feel the need to go back, but am glad that we took the time to visit.

DH is a big "pawn stars" fan, so last august 2011 during our (annual) trip to vegas, we went there (a friend who lives in Pahrump drove us)

it is quite small inside, and narrow - it "looks" bigger on TV (must the camera angles) - it was very very crowded - only that large security guard who sits by the front door was there, no one else (not rick, chum, cory or old man)

it was as if we were being "herded" along the counter in a single line, to the back of the store - didn't buy anything, was disappointment actually - even the parking lot is small - took some pix outside in front to show we were there!

Good info:thumbsup2

Can someone tell me exactly where Pawn Shop is? Can you walk from the strip or exactly what is the name so I can tell cab driver? We are going to Vegas soon and husband wants to visit this place & get some t-shirts. Thanks All!!

It's on the Strip, Las Vegas Blvd, but not in walking distance. You can take a cab, calling it the Pawn Shop on tv should get you there, the official name is the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop. You can also easily take the Duece which is the bus that runs up and down the strip. It's location is a about 6 or 7 blocks south of Fremont St. So you can hit the pawn shop and go to the Freemont St Experience after.

Those blocks are normal size, not the giant ones on the Strip.

I wouldn't say it's on the "strip" part of the strip but yes, it's on LV BLVD. We went in April, we drove by in the morning and there was a HUGE line so I said no thanks, I was the only one who really wanted to go. We did some sightseeing and various shopping and at the end of the day we were headed to an Italian place near the Pawn Shop so we drove by again. NO line so we stopped, I didn't care to meet anyone, I just wanted to go in and look around. It's tiny but it was fun. There was a guy there who is sometimes on the show, he started as a security guard but he has some knowledge in antique weapons so he is sometimes featured, I think his name was Rocco, I did recognize him. I didn't ask for a photo or autograph but we chatted for a while. I liked looking at the merchandise they had but we didn't buy anything, just walked through. After dinner we did go to Fremont Street, I enjoy Fremont Street.
Definitely not walkable IMO, definitely glad to have a car to drive around.

We are going to Vegas Oct 12-14th. Planning on going to Counts while there, I want to get a shirt from there.
