PlanDisney Panelist Search 2024 Applications Now Open

I applied for WDW the last three searches, so I switched it up this year and went with DVC! I answered the banking and borrowing question.

Last year I did the adults-only question for WDW. I don't have kids, although I go a lot with family members who do, so I was excited to see this question start becoming part of the mix a couple of years ago!

I think it's great to see them focusing on the adults-only side of things. Several years ago we had a big family trip planned, which included my sister and brother-in-law, who hadn't had kids yet at that point. Neither of them had been since they were kids, and they were SHOCKED at how much fun they had and how much there was to do for adults. They said they had a better time on that trip than they did on their honeymoon.

Anyone want to share which specialty they chose or which questions you answered?

I am WDW specialty, and I went with the adults-only trip question. I have little kids and haven't been on an adults-only trip in quite some time (😢) but I love the adult side of Disney. My husband and I did a couple of adults-only trips before the kids were born, and we do usually get at least a taste of it, since the grandparents often travel with us and offer a night of babysitting. Right now I'm planning an anniversary trip for some friends whose kids are grown, so my head has been in that space a lot recently.
I went for DCL and answered the question about having enough room in your stateroom.

This is my second time to apply. Last year I applied for WDW and did the adults only question. I love going with my kiddos but adults-only trips are their own kind of magic and MIGHT be my favorite! 😬

This year I opted to apply for DVC and answered the banking and borrowing question. We are relatively new Members so it felt particularly risky, but since I’d obsessively researched everything about Membership prior to buying in I felt more drawn to the DVC questions this time around.

Go Team DVC! I made the switch from WDW to DVC this year too. I had a lot of fun answering the DVC questions this year, so it felt right!

I noticed they changed the recency requirement for DVC for trips within a year to trips within the past two years. I wonder if that means they need more DVC specialists this year than usual.

I think the DVC recency requirement used to be two years and last year was an exception. But I also haven't paid super close attention to the DVC requirements in the past. It'll be interesting to see how many they take on this year! I looked at the number of recently asked questions on the planDisney web site by specialty, and DVC has the lowest number. But there are a lot of new DVC resorts opening in the next year!

Yay!!!! I always love connecting with DVC neighbors! Where is your home resort?! I agree, I had fun answering the questions, too!

Ok, this has been driving me crazy because my memory is a mess… hoping you can weigh in! When it asked the date of my last trip, it had a little calendar pull up to click the date versus manually typing the date in. Please tell me it did that for you as well and I’m not just losing my mind lol! If memory serves me correctly, it also didn’t let me select a range of dates which I thought was odd, so I just used the first date from our trip… was that just user error on my end, or did you experience that, too? 😬

I have done WDW the past two years and continued this year. I answered the question regarding staying on property. I honestly can’t remember which one I answered last year because the questions have been similar over the past two. I have been a DVC member for a few years now (6. Years) and always feel behind the curve when it comes to the tricks to the program. I just feel so much more comfortable even though there is stiffer competition. 😬

Love it! And I feel you... I won't be surprised at all if in future years I end up going back to applying for WDW. But for having just done all that research, I'm not sure I'd have felt as comfortable applying for DVC compared to WDW. The irony is that despite this plethora of new DVC 'knowledge' I recently acquired, the reality is I'm still a new Member so I can't imagine that's going to do me any favors in this process haha. I really hummed and hawed over which to go with for that exact reason, but ultimately decided to just take that leap of faith and go with the one that I would most enjoy answering application questions for.

My home resorts are Boardwalk and Copper Creek! On the application for the last trip, it was also a calendar for me too and you could only choose one date. I think I went with the first day of our last trip? If it makes you feel better, I don't think we could ever pick a date range in previous years either. I think they just want to get a sense of when your last qualifying trip was and don't care how long you were there for.

I don't know that the competition is stiffer for any of the specialties necessarily. There are more WDW applicants, but that specialty has more panel spots. Although the whole process is such a mystery, who knows?!

I answered this question too. I have a 3-year-old, so an adults-only trip would require a lot more than wishing upon a star. (Honestly, the training trip would be as close I could get!) I can't recall the third question now that we're been waiting months for R1 results. (Wait, it's only been a week? 😂) Hang in there, everybody!

It’s great seeing everyone have fun here! I just got back home from a week long stay at Disneyland! I love both the US parks, but I usually apply for WDW specialist just because I feel like DL locals have better perspective on that park. I don’t remember the question I answered this year, i just filled out the application quickly, then flew off to have fun! Lol. Didn’t realize the timing would be there, but definitely helped me forget the anxiety by being at the parks.

Anyway, enjoy a couple pix and try to relax while Disney compiles the tabulations, etc!

I do way more adults only trips than we do trips with our kiddos (15 and 14) even though we just got home last night from WDW from a birthday trip for my daughter for a long weekend but we enjoy it do much more when it is just us. Just booked another trip for September to go back and see some friend that are Castmembers. That is the amazing thing about Disney. We have built some amazing relationships with Castmembers and love visiting with them during our trips. We visit the parks or go to dinner with them when they are off. Just fantastic.

I chose WDW, and I answered the question about tweens seeking thrills. I tried to include everything in my response...coasters, simulators, TOT and water parks (just Typhoon Lagoon since BB is closed currently). It was challenging because I didn't have enough word space to name everything. We will see...

I wrote out my answer for that question as well but when I got the original answer down to 100 words I felt like it was so bare bones, I didn't like it anymore. It was just so bland so I went with the other.

Yeah, that 100 word limit is rough. I get they're trying to keep things short and sweet, but it was really hard to give a decent answer and stay within the word limit.

I always write out my answers then work backwards. It just works best for me. But that one I HATED when it was done. It was just so bland once I got it down to the 100. I wanted to touch on all parks and didn't have any room left for the Typhoon. I also didn't want to just list the names. I wanted to give some kind flare to the rides. I don't know. My family all said I should have submitted that one. But I didn't. Maybe it will bite me in the butt. Who knows.

I was able to fit most of the thrill rides into my answer, most of which I didn't name. I was happy with my response, but then I've been happy with my responses every year and have only made it to Round 2 once. I figure if they don't like my style of writing then I'm not a good fit for them.
