Here is some info that some may find useful.
I stayed at POP over the weekend and was in building 4 #4431. Play Dough building.
Here is the good and bad in my opinion,
I really liked the room overall starting with the bathroom, the main improvement that I liked was they finally made the toilets ADA compliant and they are now 2 to 3 inches higher…without going into detail this is a great plus.
They also have a motion activated and variable speed exhaust fan, so you need to keep moving for it to stay on on…it shut off while I was in the walk in shower.
All fixtures are ‘LOW FLOW” so don’t expect a shower massage.
In the sink area there is a built in night light in the wall receptacle for the extending mirror, nice to not have to turn on big light and plenty enough for late night bathroom visits.
The TV’s are now 55 inch and while still not being able to adjust any settings they come with ambient light sensor and dim in low light… so it won’t seem like it’s as bright as a super nova when trying to watch at night with the lights off.
A couple other things, the A/C units are new so no more funky smells, and the mini fridge is very quiet unlike some I’ve had before.
Now the bad, mainly the floors for a few reasons.
I’m not sure when this unit was re done but the “wooden like” floor was filthy, I was in the room bare foot for 10 minutes and my feet looked like I had been in a dirt playground. I called to ask if they had mopped the floors and was told yes..they asked me if the tiles were clean which they were, but I told them the floor was very dirty and they acted very surprised. I’m pretty sure this unit’s floor was not cleaned properly after the refurb because it was just as filthy under the bed and being on the top floor, where would that much dirt and dust come from? The dirt and filth will get in your bed , shoes, etc….
Also the night stands were very small, even with the smaller phone on it, my coffee cup just barely fit…this is were they got some of the room for the wider beds.
As far as the mattress and the flat smooth wooden frame..the mattress is smaller than the frame so it slides side to side and backwards to the wall…you could roll up a towel or 2 and place them between the wall and mattress to keep it even at foot but it will still slide sideways. I liked the comfort of both the mattress and pillows and slept well until….6 am.
And as others have speculated …I was painfully aware of the screaming baby and toddlers banging things on the floor at 6 am till about 10 am in the room next to me. The noise is easily carried to neighboring rooms with out the sound absorbing carpet.. you’ve been warned.
I asked for a different room but they were full, so I just checked out and went to the Coronado..no refurb ,no noise.
I have a few more trips planned this year at POP, after being in the room I really would prefer these over the older ones and like the combination use with AOA..just hope I have quieter neighbors and I might bring a compact swiffer. I’m thinking they only sweep right now on room turnovers, I saw some sort of spill that a mopping would have taken care of…so I wiped it up easily with a wet wash cloth…that’s when I really knew that hadn’t mopped..or maybe not even have mops or swiffers ???
I normally ask for a VIP cleaning on the older rooms but I wanted to see what I would get , I will ask for it on my next visits.
Overall I’m sure things would have been better if I had been staying longer and they were not completely full.
The preceding was just my experience for 1 night.. but I was back and forth to POP and the parks for almost 24 hours…your mileage may vary.
