Pre-Trip report - Yorkshire stylee!

Young Pooh! All Hail to the Yorkshire folk!

I have to ask - have any Yorkshire folk tried the Yorkshire Fish and Chip shop in Epcot?

I'm not from Yorkshire-but I always drink Yorkshire tea - does that count:goodvibes

Fish & Chips aren't bad-not quite English though - if you know what I mean. Fish was in a 'fillet' shape rather than usual shape-but fresh & well cooked.

54 days and counting

Damn we have worked darned hard this year. I only get home at weekends and I feel as if I am just working to live and not getting the life bit.

Yep, Disney is a place to kick back, enjoy, have a laugh, have a good time, meet nice peeps and eat eat eat.

We all love Disney but my family teases me about it because I am a big bloke and I have a serious tech job......but I'm only 14 inside

Oh, did I mention 54 days

Aaedvark, you sound just like me, We're at 46 days now (I'm counting to the 14th-because that's when we leave home:thumbsup2 -perils of getting to Gatwick!)

Yorkshire tea always counts!!:lmao:

Yes, I've seen those fish fillets - oh well, so long as the batter is good and the chips are good!!

I can't believe there are so many of us there at the same time! I can't wait to read everyone's trip reports - (although - :sad2: because we'll all have come home!)

Big up Mamaboogie and the Yorkshire massive ....aye!

Just dropped in before work again

We have stayed as follows

2000 offsite

2002 offsite

2003 offsite

2004 Pop Century

2005 Disneyland Calif and Las Vegas

2006 Port Orleans Riverside

2007 Animal Kingdom Lodge

2008 Coronado Springs resort

Pop is great for a value, but no DDP on offer

POR is lovely to be able to catch a boat downtown, and you have twice basins in the bathroom. Live music most eveinings in the bar make this special

AKL, hmm, glad we did it, food at Boma is terrific, pool is great and savannah lookout is great, but it is just too dark inside for my taste.

BTW, I love all your photos, some really arty ones in there as well.

I am getting a digital camera before we travel this time.....proly a 35mm SLR

and proly from Janet Green Photographic in Halifax as they offer a great service ;)

Edit, and I dont drink Yorkshire tea. I drink Royal assam loose leaf tea from Booth's supermarket in Ilkley. I am just off to make a cup now

Pop is great for a value, but no DDP on offer

We were lucky enough to manage to get Pop in last year when it was still included in the free DDP offer, now it's gone up to moderate resorts and above.

However... the value resorts are still available on the free DDP offer if you book via the US site or a US travel agent like Dreams Unlimited, just in case anyone is interested for future reference :thumbsup2 Oh, but the offer books at a different time of year in the US, in fact it's just recently finished for bookings departing this summer.

Anyway, sorry that was veering off topic there a bit!
Back to Shari's regularly scheduled Pre-Trippie!

Ey up Yorkshire (and non-tykes) posse!!

Aardvarks - I'm glad you like the food at Boma - I'm sooooo looking forward to eating there! It's funny what you say about it being dark at AKL - we did consider pushing the boat out and going there, maybe a year later, but I always thought it looked a bit gloomy!

Tea from Ilkley - you are sooo posh!

Meryll - what a veritable font of Disney information you are! You and my hubby need to get together to have a Disney face off!!

Don't worry about veering off topic - we need info like that!!

Anyhoo, where was I up to? Ah, yes! Disney/Hollywood/MGM/whatsit Studios!!

I loved this place in 2006 (who are we kidding, I loved every park!!) but being a mega movie buff I really did love it!! And yet, I still feel that we missed loads out!

My favourite ride there probably has to be Star Tours - I loved it in DLP and I loved it in WDW. I lost count of the times I went on it!

Muppet Show 3D - really good fun - especially for Sarah who is a muppet fiend!

Great Movie Ride - had quite a long wait for this but I loved all the movie references.

Backlot Tour/catastrophe canyon - still great fun with the whole/fire/water/rocking thing!

Beauty and the Beast stage show - I loved this! A great movie, live! And condensed into half an hour! (wasn't really me shouting 'Kiss the Prince Belle! Kiss him!' and wiping a tear away!)

Wasn't that keen on the Little Mermaid show as our Ariel was kinda bored!

Si and Kate also went on Tower of Terror and Aerosmith!

Here are some studio photos!

That's it holiday begins today. Over to airport hotel and big bird in the morning:cool1:  :cheer2:
Still a lot to do, final packing, repacking and double checking we have everything we want to take and have done everything we need to do:confused3

Bon voyage Patimouse!!:cheer2:

We want to hear ALL when you get back!

(I'm already worrying about the whole packing everything you need malarkey!)

Have fun!!

Thanks for sharing your pre trip report and details of your last trip, I have so enjoyed reading them. Another vote for the cheddar cheese soup at Le Cellier, amazing!

I am a complete wuss but have managed all three mountains - Big Thunder was the one I did first and it really is quite fun, even for a wuss! I liked it better the second time round as I wasn't so nervous.

As for CS at Epcot, our favourite is Yakitori House in the Japan section of World Showcase. I love their Japanese beef curry :lovestruc

arieljasmine - thanks for your kind comments! I'm having fun re-living/looking forward to my trip and it's nice that other people don't mind me rambling on.

(I just wish I'd discovered this place before I went before!!)

You're so brave to do all three mountains! Big Thunder is the only one I dare attempt!

Cheese soup it is then! I'm thinking about the mushroom filet for entree (yes, I'm that sad - I've perused the menus to within an inch of their life and I've looked at the food porn pictures!)

We thought about trying the Yakitori house but have heard conflicting reviews - so much food - so little time!

We keep saying - 'Six weeks today we'll be doing such and such...'

(By the way - 6 weeks today we'll be in the animal Kingdom and having lunch at Tusker House!)

(I just wish I'd discovered this place before I went before!!)

It's the most useful source of info, but highly addictive! :disrocks:

This is my favourite WDW meal - you already know I'm a huge supporter of the soup, and the mushroom filet mignon was sooooooooooo yummy, I can be a fussy eater at times but I didn't leave a scrap of either of these! (Actually, tell a lie, I left about 4 green leafy type things that were in my mushroom risotto :lmao:)
We're going to take all our wedding posse there for dinner one night, as we were both such fans.
I am going to be extremely jealous when in 6 weeks you are having "my" meal :cloud9:

The mushroom filet is also wonderful! I am so jealous! I love the food porn threads, I am on there much more than can possibly be healthy (though I use pregnancy as an excuse)!

Wow, 6 weeks to go, not long at all :goodvibes

Laur's princess:

I'm totally addicted to the food porn sites! I have a sore middle finger from scrolling down endless pages of food. I sit in a kind of a daze, endlessly searching for the perfect meal!!

And it's 12 years since I was pregnant so I don't have that excuse! (still trying to shift that stubborn baby fat!;) )

There's so much Disney food that it's nice to have recommendations - even if people have different tastes. I just want to try as large a range of dishes as possible! (Not burger and fries every day!!)

By the way....6 weeks today we shall be perusing EPCOT with an early dinner at Coral Reef - any recommendations from this restaurant?

Shari xx

Hey there!

Just to let you know that 6 weeks today we will be at Disney Studios and we shall be lunching at the Sci-Fi Dine in!!

Love Shari xx

PS We're also hoping to catch Fantasmic!:thumbsup2

Hi Shari,

From Lowestoft not Yorkshire unfortunately but going in 4 weeks time and will probably be at the Epcot meet ... gotta ask ..... is Shari short for Sharon? ..... the only person that used to call me Shari was my Grandad and bless him, he's long gone!

Have a fantastic trip, look forward to meeting you at Epcot.

Sharon

Hi Sharon!!

No, Shari is just Shari! (How many times I've cursed my parents as I've had to spell out my name!) I blame West Indian heritage.

Maybe your Grandad was a Shari Lewis - and Lambchop fan?!

Four weeks before you go!! Not long at all!

Hope you have an amazing time - and tell all when you get back!

Love Shari xx

Hiya sandshal,

I have just got home from working in Suffolk last week. I was in Ipswich and Felixstowe.

We have all been shopping for new holiday clothes today.

I got new shorts and T shirts in the sales at a GAP and M&S factory outlet in York.

I also got a new suite for work at Moss Bross.

We fly on the 15th of August from Man. so......5 weeks on friday next

Dont forget those essentials

mossie repellant
diarrhoea capsules.....like immodium
Co-codamols
something for heartburn.....Zantac or Gaviscon etc
something for bites and stings...to rub on
antihistamines for itch....Piriton or similar
Sunscreen

As I am late 40's I take a 350mg aspirin the day before I fly, on the day and the day after.

Hi Shari

My Grandad was definately a "one off" so who knows where he got Shari from?

Ardvarks ..... Ipswich is about an hour and a quarter from Lowestoft, I tend to go there quite a bit because the company I work for has a sales office at Ipswich Haven Marina.

Thanks for reminding me about the asprin ..... Every now and again I develop a really nasty bruise on my leg, normally just before a flight! so I try to remember to take Asprin and also wear those very attractive flight socks. Having said that I hadn't remembered this year, so I'll start taking them tonight! (comes with being 42 I guess):sad2:

Hey everyone!

I'm starting to get a bit jittery - less than five weeks now!

6 weeks today we will have been in the Magic Kingdom today and have an ADR for Whispering Canyon in the evening. That all you can eat skillet is calling my name!

aardvarks - thanks for the packing hints! I have just about all the things you mentioned sorted.

I don't think I used insect repellent last time - I don't tend to get bitten much unlike my poor Mother in Law! Which would you put on first - insect repellent or suncream?

Simon and I have already bought those sexy flight socks! Must remember to take a picture of him in his!;)

I'm still very sadly trawling the food porn sites! Any other good recommendations for dishes?

Love Shari xx

Hmm age old question

I would apply sunscreen in the morning, re apply at lunchtime and the apply the mossie repellant perhaps from mid afternoon and then again in early eveing.

People say that Avon's 'Skin so Soft' moisturiser acts as an effective mozzie repellant, but we always use Mozzie Guard Natural or Autan.

DW and I always get bitten but they leave the boys alone

5 weeks next Friday.
