Arrived at WDW from CA last night and participated in the quest for a BG at DHS this morning (1/2/2020.) Our results where:
5:30 a.m. awake (felt like 3:30 a.m. west coast time)
6:05 a.m. at VGF bus stop (per app. a 5:55 a.m. bus left before we got there)
6:30 a.m. full bus departs for DHS - bus was empty when it pulled in & everyone made it on the bus
6:40 a.m. off the bus fast walking towards the entry
6:42 a.m. Jump into line at bag check - about 10 - 12 people deep. Because it was dark I didn’t spot that 4 or 5 people ahead of us had huge monster backpacks - argh... Time ticks slowly as the guard methodically searches every crevice of every purse, every backpack...I realize that my choosing to carry a small, mostly empty wallet sized purse does me no good if I’m stuck behind several people with packs bigger than airplane carry on.
6:58 I’m finally through security and on to tap styles, third row from the right, just a few people in front of us, son is through, his gf through, I tap right as the garmin reads 7 a.m.. Son and gf are paused about 5 feet from tapstyles waiting for me to get through, son sees my tap turn green and immediately tries for boarding group - he gets BG 34. He has a newish Android phone w/ Verizon.
I didn’t realize until I got back to the room tonight just how lucky we were to get a BG. This morning I figured as long as we were in the park by 7:10 or so we’d get a BG and I didn’t particularly need an early one. The people next to us were saying 2 of their folks weren’t showing as in the park, I doubt that they got a BG. I wonder how many people on my bus made that early morning effort in vain.
Opted to get in Joffrey’s line for coffee - SB times for rides were nuts by the time we made our way further into the park and the Starbucks line was ridiculous.
By 9:45 we had ridden and were in search of breakfast.
DHS was packed today, as was AK, which we went to later, after our Oga’s ADR. Hoping the crowds lighten up next week when we try the running of the BG bulls at DHS again.
