Rumor about “modified experiences” when Disney reopens (read 1st post for potential modifications being considered)

We really ought to rename this thread, LOL. It's like 257 pages about masks and only 50, if that, about anything else! ;) ;) :D

(No, I'm not actually suggesting or asking for a name change. It's just the teasing thought that goes through my mind every time I check this thread looking for any new tidbits or rumors and find that 99% of the new posts are still about masks. :) )

Ok in the interest of keeping this thread on topic has anyone heard anything about mickeys not so scary Halloween? I have a reservation in Oct and. was planning on attending since oct dates published earlier fit but haven’t heard! I just heard several midnight Magic’s were canceled but the dates were in June I believe and the parks may be closed still! What about food and wine will that go on since my reservation allows me to do both in early oct I believe?
There hasn't been any news at all about any hard ticket events. There are several we're interested in, but all you can do is book them and hope.

Nothing yet and I wouldn't expect any updates on those anytime soon. Be prepared for last minute announcements.

I haven't heard anything, but I did find it interesting that Disney was celebrating "Halfway to Halloween" on social media yesterday. I decided to tell myself that was a good sign. :D Right now that's the one disappointment I'm prepping my kids for, because we're either going so early in the Halloween season that there may still be no parties happening, OR we'll be going next June, so definitely no Halloween parties then!
But yesterday's posts that were all Halloweeny made me hope that even if Disney has to have a condensed Halloween season, that they will still do that.---which will at least work out well for other people, including you! Good luck!!

I agree. I never thought masks would be such a big deal. Does wearing a mask really take that much away from the Magic? They have all but announced masks are required so can we just move on.

I have something that can be talked about. There is a rumor from a poster on WDWmagic board that Voyage of the Little Mermaid is not going to reopen.

On another topic.....In reading the guidelines and mandates for hotels set forth by the state, it mentions removing all cups, glassware, etc and coffeemakers from hotel rooms. I do not understand the logic in this. Does this mean WDW will have to remove all of this from the guest rooms? Wouldn't it make more sense to have access to this in your room instead of having to interact with others in a QS/TS to get a cup of joe every morning? So confused.........

Did they say why?

They want to limit the amount of things that have to sanitized in the rooms.

Its to limit the amount of time and the amount of cleaning required by housekeeping staff. The less stuff in the room, the less risk of the virus lingering on a surface.

And yes WDW would have to remove all this from the rooms

I have seen reported that those things aren't sanitized between guests. They are washed, but not sanitized.

We stay at a beach hotel every year with a kitchen and they have had that sign posted for 30 years. I always go in there first day and wash the entire kitchen. Not so much fun, but I stay there a month.

I'm fairly confident the coffee pots are not.

I can see the replacing the cups/glassware with the disposable type. I am not sure what they are going to do about the coffee makers. The guidelines for hotels does call for removing them. I need my morning coffee, so if they remove them, I will have to buy a small one to bring (our Ninja coffeemaker is too big to transport).

And give us back our little shampoo bottles instead of the unsanitized dispensers!

Absolutely! I bought one years ago when we started going to Las Vegas. They didn't have coffee pots and of course, coffee is a mile away in those casino hotels, so I got a small one that fits in my airline carry on.

Then for years I was able to use it on my cruises too, till they put a stop to that.

But, I'm a little of a coffee snob and I don't like the coffee, especially at Disney, ships or resorts.

I’ve taken to ordering a Couple of giant Starbucks iced coffee bottles from a delivery service And bring Togo cups with lids. I prefer Iced Coffee esp in the summer months. I hope we will still be allowed to use the fridge... or was that on the no-no list?

Also re: the removal of kitchen items from rooms I would love to know how that will work with DVC rooms. We only ever do one bedrooms and we fly down, the fact that the kitchen was fully stocked - with glasses, dishes, pots and pans, etc - was one of the selling points to me.
I can't bring that stuff every time I travel, and I'm not buying it every time I go - and that cannot be a reasonable suggestion - so I'm not sure how this will play out.

I missed the talk of the Little Mermaid! That's a surprise to me, even though I know it's certainly not a 7DMT or Peter Pan level ride in terms of popularity. I figured there are still enough LM fans and dark ride in general fans to keep it going. Although I'm a fan of both of those things and it really doesn't matter to me one way or another if they close the ride, so I guess I just shot down my own initial response! 😄

Never mind---I was thinking of the wrong Little Mermaid attraction, LOL! Good grief--this is what happens when my Disney planning/talk is reduced to nothing but cancellations and masks---I start forgetting the poor attractions!! ;)

Its not ride they are closing. Its the stage show at Hollywood Studios

That will be interesting. Are there dishwashers in the rooms? If so, those items could be sanitized if the dishwasher has that feature.

Borrowing from Jungle Cruise?:sail:I miss Jungle Cruise...... and Big Thunder Mountain, and Splash Mountain, and Haunted Mansion, and................well, everything at WDW! Even the rides I don't "love the most" like Stitch's Great Escape. But if it's open when I ever get to go back, I may have to go in again!

Maybe with the Jungle Cruise they can work the masks into the spiel:

"As you can see our welcoming party is ready and they are wearing their traditional tribal masks .... Which are much more stylish than the masks you all are wearing - seriously step up your game!"

"Last time I saw this many masks was when I was a bank teller and someone ask me to put all the money in a bag .... Hopefully fewer people die today than did then!"

"Welcome back - and since I can't see you faces I will just assume they are all smiling due to my amazing tour abilities!"
