San Angel Inn or Chefs de France??

The atmostphere at San Angel Inn is nice, but a couple years ago, all 7 in our party found the food and service to be real bad. And 5 out of the 7 are adventurous eaters. We did like the appetizers, but the rest of it was somewhat awful. I can't review the other place for you, though we are considering it for our upcoming trip :goodvibes.

I've done both and while the atmosphere is better at San Angel, the food is better at Chefs.

Both were good, but San Angel gets less than favorable reviews because the menu isn't "Mexican" in terms of what most people consider Mexican food.

Lots of people have posted this opinion, but that wasn't the problem for us. We like all kinds of exotic foods and with a few exceptions, are not chain restaurant kind of peole. We just felt the quality was poor.

We have done both.

We did Chefs for lunch. The food was 'meh' at best, the atmosphere was fine, and meeting Remy was a great experience for the kids. That being said, Remy is at your table probably for 1-2 minutes. We didn't love the food so we won't be hurrying back.
We really enjoy San Angel. The atmosphere is wonderful, the service has always been excellent and the food has been very good. We were planning to go back in Aug, but it appears they have changed their kids menu. Our kids loved getting cheese quesadillas but now it looks like it is the typical, mac n cheese, chicken nuggets and pb&j. *ugh* :guilty:
