Even single rider We always ask for front row or last. However. You usually get what you get. Especially at DL. Where there is more single rider lines. Alot of time’s you don’t even get split up. Sometimes you do. But it beats a long wait if no fast pass. Coasters we like last row Other stuff like splash/space. We like front row. Always ask...worst you can get is a no. If it’s just me. I don’t care where I sit. The kids obviously like front row. If we don’t have a FP single rider like is way to go for sure.
I will say..test track. We have never been split up. Single rider is a great option if no FP.
Sure, it’s easy to say the worst they can say is no, but in my mind that’s still putting the CM in position to either potentially upset the guest or have to do another calculation to figure out how to configure the vehicle. These people don’t make enough money as is, let alone having to deal with an additional request from me because I want to A) skip a long line AND B) sit in a special seat.
It's actually not nearly that complicated. Single riders fill in empty seats for odd-numbered parties in the standby/FP line. The CM just advises the single rider that they will need to wait until a front seat comes available (which could be a while), and fills in any empty singles with all the other guests waiting in the single rider line. The one who requests a particular car doesn't hold up anyone else, the single rider line keeps moving along. As long as the single rider who prefers a particular car is OK waiting, everybody wins. If that person decides it's not worth waiting for a car, they ride when it's their turn the first time. Either way, there are no calculations being made to configure a vehicle, other than alerting the CM in the regular line that they have a single who may want first car. The CM managing that line will generally ask if there are any parties of 3 close to the front and direct them into the first car waiting. It's a bigger imposition on the single rider with the request than anybody else.
Is there a perception that single rider shouldn't make requests? sure, and I can understand why some might feel that way. But there's no policy against it and it doesn't impose a huge inconvenience on the CMs running the line. Out of courtesy I wouldnt make a seat request even in the standby/FP line if it were a long wait, but if it's a short wait it's generally not a big deal no matter what line you stand in.

there is a line for those who want the front and last car that waited in the standby line. where do you put the single rider that wants to be in the front car and needs to wait? In the main line for the front, so they jumped ahead of everyone waiting in the standby? Doesn't seem fair to the standby line. Most rides don't ahve room for more lines. It's actually not nearly that complicated. Single riders fill in empty seats for odd-numbered parties in the standby/FP line.
