They are NOT conservative Christians, they're Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints (a breakaway sect of Mormonism). The two sets of beliefs are quite different and it's inaccurate to expect them to react the way you'd expect conservative Christians to.I just watched it and I am surprised that their family is liberal in so many ways. Most extreme, fundamental Christians don't drink like their kids did in this episode and wouldn't be so open to Mariah's coming out. As strict as they are with sexual mores and dating rules, it surprises me.
Not making a judgment call or a statement. We live in a area with very strict religious groups and it is usually all or none with less conservative actions. Lots of mixed messages for the kids, I think.
And they're actually a breakaway from the FDLS. They were pretty adamant about not being associated with Warran Jeffs when the show began. They are NOT conservative Christians, they're Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints (a breakaway sect of Mormonism). Is that supposed to be some sort of semi-secret group? They never mention that on the show, only FLDS and sometimes mainstream Mormonism. The Browns are AUB - Apostolic United Brethren. Christine is part of the infamous Allred family that started the group.

Oh my gosh, Mariah needs a good smack aside the head, she is such a brat!
This may be shallow but Meri's eyebrows and eyeshadow are very overpowering.
I may be one of the few who don't mind Tony, he seems to absolutely adore Mikelti even though he isn't the picture perfect fiancée
@kimblebee been thinking of you, hugs!
Thank you. I won't know anything for a few weeks yet so I've put it out of my head for now.
On to the show LOL
I know everyone has different tastes but for the life of me I don't know how Kody got four women to 'marry' him. He's so immature and tries too hard to be cool. And that hair...
Oh the speed of MB healthcare.....
Kody's hair, oh my, totally agree as I always look at him and wonder what the attraction was. He is trying desperately to hold onto his 90's(?) hair but it is fading fast.
I have seen through gossip sites that they figure Meri is done and will be leaving, anyone else see this?
I really wish for her own self-worth that she would get out of there.
I am still one episode behind so need to get caught up!
Leave and do what? I don't even know how that would work in this context. Divorce/breaking up a family is so complicated, even in the most straight-forward circumstances. I can't fathom how you separate from 18 kids and maintain civil relationships with 4 "co-parents". Like it or not, she can't just up and go without breaking all their hearts. And what about finances? How would you even start to work out a settlement? Apparently there have been times where one of them have "left the marriage" (Janelle, at least once) and my guess is that coming back presents as the only viable option because everything is just so enmeshed....I have seen through gossip sites that they figure Meri is done and will be leaving, anyone else see this?

That's sad but probably true.
Would she even have a claim on anything the family has since she "divorced" Kody?
If she was smart she'd start back to school ASAP to give herself some options.

Do you mean left the current marriage and came back? Or a previous marriage? I thought I remember that Janelle was married to somebody's brother before.
Yea wouldn't she have to contest her divorce agreement? I mean legally wasn't she entitled to get half of everything and if all 4 houses are in his name that's a lot.
IMO Mari and Kody went downhill when he started courting Robyn and marrying her. The 4 of them (Janelle, Christine, Meri and Kody) had their thing going and it worked for them. Then he wanted this new young hot piece of tail and it really hurt Meri and brought out the jealousy and all these new feelings.
Janelle left Kody once before. Very briefly and then came back. I think part of her leaving was because Meri was very mean to her but I could be wrong.
