Oh my gosh, I would have been so frustrated. This did remind me of when my dad got us "lost" on a hike. He decided to take us off trail and then we couldn't find the trail again so we walked and walked and walked and I started getting nervous about how we were ever going to get out of there. He told me to calm down as we weren't "lost" as he pointed out we could see the lake in the distance which had a road running by it which if we followed it would take us back to our car. I was all teary eyed at that point though and we had to cross through a stretch of forest that had "No Trespass" signs posted. What an ordeal.
It was like your seeing Saratoga Springs and having no idea how to get there and just being so tired. Spoiler, we did eventually find the road and made it back to the car.
Haha, yeah, at least you had your dad to protect you! I had my light up Mickey ears!
I think you did a great job!
Aww thank you:
Before Uber we would take a cab over and they also drop by Cirque du Soleil
DD loves the Billa Bong store and of course Marvel and SW
You poor thing you were brave to attempt that walk in the dark
Can’t wait to visit the Disney Style store
Great job on your vlog
Haha I did not realize that! I thought I had taken an Uber to Disney Springs before but then i realized I haven't before.
I love the SW and Marvel stores, worth the trek to the west side.
I had to get to the resort so I didn't know what else to do, LOL. i didn't even know I was lost!
Thank you!
Oh my goodness, what a wild night!! I would have gotten much more flustered than you did! Fortunately, your ramen and some of the fun shopping you did seemed to help salvage the night. And your room looked really lovely and welcoming once you finally got to it!
It was a crazy night! But adventure does happen at Disney and it made good vlog fodder. Hahaha.
The ramen and the shopping with all the livelihood of Disney Springs did salvage the night!
And that room was the best thing I've ever SEEN it was like a mirage
Loved the VLOG! nice way to put the instagram story together as well.
Thank you! It was definitely a learning experience putting it together but I hope the next one is better!
Checking in as promised.
Can't wait to get all caught up. I always love your reports and am so looking forward to meeting you in May!!!
Hi Melinda!! I'm so happy you're here!!
I need to find time to comment in your Aulani TR because you went to some of our favorite places in Hawaii and now i need to go to Hawaii. Like right now!
I can't wait until May!
Following along .I really enjoy your trip reports you have a great way of sharing and explaining that keeps it interesting. Wow... What a journey to get to Saratoga Springs. Glad you can laugh about it now
Thank you so much! It's my pleasure to share my experiences, I'm glad it's entertaining enough, LOL!
Yup it was the endless journey it felt. I was so tired but I kept on and then it wasn't so bad after that
Loved the VLOG. I'm not sure we've ever done the walk between SSR and Disney Springs before either, and we've stayed at SSR a few times. How frustrating to start walking what was clearly the wrong way though. Glad you got some food and shopping time in though.
Thank you so much! I'm sure the next one will be better, LOL!
Yeah I Though it would be so easy to walk back and forth when you know where you are going at least, LOL
It all worked out and now I have a story to tell on the vlog!
It's bad enough when you get lost, but getting lost by yourself in the dark had to be a bit unnerving. Glad it worked out.
Oh for sure! At least I had my phone to talk to, LOL.
That ramen looked delicious. I'll have to remember that next time I'm near there for a light meal or need a hold me over snack.
It was very good! A lot better than I expected it to be!
I want everything in Marketplace! That store is dangerous for me!
OMG me too!
Nice room at SRR. Is this your first time there?
Yup! Obviously since I had no idea where I was going, LOL.
I really enjoyed your vlog. Please continue to make more. You have a very pleasant speaking voice. Whenever I hear my voice, I always ask someone if I really sound like that! My nasal Chicago accent comes through, even though I don't think I sound like it.
Thank you! I think I sound like a prepubescent teenage girl and large toddler mixed up but but I'm glad you think it's pleasant!
It's always so weird to hear your own voice. I love regional american accents! Chicago, southern, Boston, Brooklyn, haha. I wish I had a proper New York accent because then I wouldn't sound so childish.
Was there a problem with the Uber driver dropping you off at the front desk of SSR?
The thing is, it was my fault because I typed in Disney Springs in the Uber, not Saratoga Springs. So I was like, well since I'm here already...maybe I can just walk, right?
Yeah, the first time we did it was coming from the resort to DTD as it was still DtD at the time. I can see that it would be hard to find going the opposite direction.
Yes and in the dark!!
Even though its blurry the first thing wrong with that picture is that the water is on the wrong side!
Haha thanks for letting me know!
Oh my gosh! I know exactly where you are! Remember in my TR when we had to pick up the replacement scooter at the Bell Services area, and I convinced Fran to get a drink in the Turf club bar? That Minnie Van parking lot was right across the river from there. We could see it out the window as we enjoyed our drinks. So by this point you've walked WAY farther than your building in Congress Park and you're now even with the main building with the lobby, restaurants, spa, and DVC center.
Yes! I was right there! But of course I couldnt' see anything on the other side of the river!
Happy swimming!
Will ya at least throw me a rope?
You had a ways to go before you would have hit the treehouses, but again you would have to swim across the river for them too. The only bridge is the one you eventually found.
Geez, I wonder why I was sent that way!!
Whoa! You DO have quite a ways to go!
I do...
Now you're about halfway there...
Thanks...
That sounds really good. Back in college I used to do that to my Top Ramen to make my $.28 dinner a little fancier!
If it wasn't 90° out I would now be craving Ramen or Pho!
Haha yes! The fancy way is to also add some shredded cheese and green onion to the mix. Also makes a good breakfast ramen #collegehacks
Well you are definitely getting closer to your destination!
And at last I see the light....
I guess you figured out that the doors all open to the outside, no hallways so to speak.
Yes...
You'd think that by the time you got there they would have brought it!
I kinda expected them not to because I didn't have a room number when I sent my bags over...
I wouldn't have had the strength and probably just crawled into bed all dirty and sweaty!
I am one of those people who can't go to bed dirty! So I forced myself too, those bath bombs were ...da bomb!
Love the vlog! Love love love! You're inspiring me to try vlogging maybe! Love the quick tour of the new Pop rooms. I'm likely staying there in November of next year, so it was exciting to see a video walk-through!
I think you should! It was a fun thing to do when solo because sometimes you just wanna share and instead of talking to myself, which I usually do, and looking strange, I'll just talk into the phone. So many people blog and instagram stuff nowadays no one bats an eye.
The Uber thing: I took one (well, Lyft actually) back in May, and here's how the driver explained it to me: They can drop you off pretty much anywhere. Nice drivers (like mine) will drop you closer to the center. Jerkface drivers will only drop you off at the official Uber/Lyft pickup/dropoff point, which is that place waaaay out beyond the West Side. (And I know exactly where you're talking about because to get picked up, you HAVE to go there. When you request a pickup, that's the only designated meet point for them to come find you, so I had to go out there to catch my ride back to my hotel.)
I guess I got one of THOSE drivers. But honestly I didn't even know that was the drop off so I didn't know to request for him to take me up to the buses or the Marketplace! I was on my phone the whole journey over and then when I look up I see the Cirque tent.
Also, if it make you feel any better, I got lost on my last trip, too! Like, crossing four lanes of traffic on my scooter and ending up in a closed Fantasia Gardens kind of lost... before I finally turned around and went back, and discovered just how off course I'd gotten my attempt to walk (scoot) from the Boardwalk to Hollywood Studios. And I don't even have a cast member to blame, just poor/confusing signage. It happens to the best of us, boo!
Haha, yours seems much funner - dodging traffic and golfballs on your scooter
I really wish I had a scooter!!! My legs were like jelly. I was so outta shape after not being in Disney for 6 months, hahahaha.
Isn't Mama Melrose delicious? I had a super excellent meal there on my last trip. I regretted putting that place on the back-burner for so long due to the mixed reviews. I really enjoyed it!
OMG it was so good! I remember you posting your meal on FB. I've been seeing such good things about that steak so of course I had to get it and it was amazing. I regret putting it on the back burner too and now it's definitely a contender for each trip!
Oh my that walk looked scary! Did you ever find out if it would have led to Saratoga if you’d kept going? I don’t blame you for turning around! Way to make the best of it though with some soup and shopping!! Somehow I still haven’t tried Morimoto- next trip. I’m actually thinking about doing a long weekend at Saratoga or one of the neighbor hotels or whatever they’re called just to focus on Disney Springs (and, let’s be honest... EAT). Love the vlog!!! You should definitely do more. I would definitely subscribe to your channel to follow along on all your adventures!
Haha, well according to
@franandaj it does not have a pathway in that direction, but I guess I can google or find a map that would tell me but I'd rather not know at this point. Haha.
Yeah I looked on the bright side and overall had a good night!
The vlogging was fun! I'll see if I will do a channel in the future. Maybe if I have enough vlogs of Disney!
Enjoying this report so much, your writing is so entertaining. I wondered how you would fend for yourself, and this trip to find your hotel was proof that nothing rattles you! I did have a question about your getting a bus in the parking lot at Hollywood Studios to go to Epcot. I haven't heard of this service before. Is it located where the taxis drop you off? Thanks.
Thank you so much! Yeah I'm ok with travelling by myself, especially to Disney which I thought I knew like the back of my hand...but apparently just not Disney Springs!
The bus to Epcot form DHS was only there for a short period of time because the boats weren't running. There usually are not buses between those two parks, just the boats. The boats have been back since end of June I believe.
All of my quotes went away and since I should have left for work already...
I'll just say this much: HOLY COW your walk home that night!
I absolutely LOVE your vlog and hope you make many more of them! I love the edits and text you added, too - great touches!
Looking forward to more!
Haha yes, adventures when solo!! I wish I had someone to walk with me but the talking to my phone did help!!
Thanks Tracy! I'll try to make some going forward!! It's a fun thing to do when solo, not sure I can pull it off with more people. Steve is too fast-paced!
