STAR WARS: GALACTIC STARCRUISER Official Information & Questions Thread

I really appreciate this info and any other tipping info from anyone. I have never been on a cruise or to an all-inclusive resort, so I feel a bit lost as what to do, if anything, for your servers at meals and such. Tripping on drinks for which you are charged extra seems relatively obvious, but what if we don't order any such drinks but still get food at the Sublight Lounge, for example?
If you just ordered food at the bar - it wouldn’t generate a bill. I guess you could leave a tip in cash if you felt like it
Tipping is mentioned on the Starcruiser FAQ.

"Your Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser vacation package includes gratuities for food service. It does not include any optional gratuities for valet parking, cabin or suite cleaning, or any other service where optional tips are customary. If you wish to do so, please tip at the time of service."

The inclusion of a recommended tip on the receipt is kind of awful and confusing, but is probably just the default in whatever software/device they're using.
We tipped Valet, Bell service, left money for housekeeping all in cash.

The drink receipts are large and folded in a way that you could easily miss that they have already automatically added the tip. I would guess a lot of people that just add a tip to their bill and don’t look closely at the bill could miss it (raises hand). I would always add to the 18% - but I would guess a decent amount of people missed the 18% entirely and just double tipped.

Exactly...that statement

It does not include any optional gratuities for valet parking, cabin or suite cleaning, or any other service where optional tips are customary.

So I would think the last part about optional tips are customary....would include bar staff. So basically on a 38.00 tab I was leaving like a total tip of $18.00. We are always really good tippers anyway...but that is excessive and really should be noted better or told.

@Spazz2k, was your bridge and lightsaber training pre-assigned to different times? I see our schedule in the app and am now wondering, based on your recommendation, if it can be changed (ours are flip flopped from yours).

I would try and call to have it changed. Trust me it is definitely better and worth the time. Yes it was pre assigned by cast member suggestion ...

Another tip that I struggled to post...but it is helpful. So the phone in the room is tied to the Disney network which routes all calls to some office back on earth. So a call to order ice (they don't have ice machines) can take forever to get thru or to get delivered. So we just called the direct number to the actual Starcruiser customer service number at the front desk. It is not shared or given out...but useful just the same. While you can't use it for reservations or stuff lol like that before your cruise...you can use it for many other things. Was very handy for us both during and after our voyage...

Use it for...
Changing your dining time...
Altering a Batuu reservation...
Changing your lightsaber time...
Or Bridge training time...
Getting more luggage tags prior to leaving..

It is very easy and helpful

The number is 407-939-7943

That would have been helpful!

We just got back to the home planet this morning…. So here is my spoiler free experience.
Thank you for the detailed and informative report! It sounds like you had a awesome time!

We were only able to get the 5:30 dinner seating, so unfortunately we will miss out on the special bridge-training event.

I am interested in hearing more about the exclusive mission merchandise you received though. I assume someone on the ship told you how to get it as part of your mission? You say you didn't receive that reward - is that because you were on a different mission/path than your wife, or did she complete a specific task in order to get the information on how to obtain the reward? I'm just looking for vague answers if possible, not spoilers.

Thanks!

So she answered a little differently to a task than I did....and that difference changed her "reward" so to speak...I received thank you for helping with ...... She received for your "blank" goto here when this "blank" and say "blank" and you will be given a reward...

I spent 50 minutes waiting for a GS cast member to request a time change for both Lightsaber and Bridge Ops training (both on Day 1). I could not get 5:15 Bridge Ops soI left everything as is.

Some of our costumes…

I think it's great that you're able to put together 4-5 outfits! I'm sure I'm in the minority, but we will definitely be on the other end of the spectrum from a costume standpoint. It's not really "our thing", so we are finding it difficult to find time to put together even 1 "outfit". My thought is that we will feel out of place.

Lol, but if I'm being honest, I was hoping I could just sport my jedi under armour t-shirt, my jedi cargo shorts, my jedi under armour low-cut socks, and my jedi brooks running shoes and try to go for more of the "theme-park patron on vacation" look. Maybe that's only cool on Earth.

Just my perspective as someone also more on the "not our thing" side of the topic, but I personally wouldn't worry about it too much. And by "not our thing" I mean we don't otherwise own any Star Wars costumes, didn't want to invest a lot of $ in costumes, nor too much luggage space as we had other destinations during our trip. We saw anything/everything on our journey, including many (frankly more than I expected) in normal t-shirt theme park attire along with many in costumes so elaborate I couldn't even begin to go about creating them if I had even wanted to. I had worried a decent amount in advance "what if I'm the only one not in costume" - but frankly, IMO, you're so busy and the overall guest count is such that all kinds of approaches work just fine. Some of the fellow guests that opted to really go all in definitely added to the fun of the voyage, but those that don't didn't distract in any way, in my opinion. It's all just part of the fabric of the universe.

That being said, DW and I bought basic multi-layer outfits on Amazon, DD had a Rey costume, DS something on Amazon. Mine had different layers - at one point I was wearing the shirt and robe/shawl with it tied at the waist, normal shorts, and flip flops. A fellow passenger joked "you going for the Tommy Bahama Jedi look?" But hey, it was hot in the ship that first day and my costume pants just weren't cutting it anymore. :-)

Anyway, I was glad we had a few items on hand because it pushed us out of our comfort zone and it sort of set the mood, but overall we walked away quite pleased with how it worked out for all approaches.

Yeah, I didn't realize I was double tipping either until day 2. I personally generally overtip bartenders anyway and I don't really know how the auto-tips get split, etc so I didn't sweat it and frankly kept on doing what I was doing, but I did feel a little foolish when I realized it.

Maybe that's why I always had prompt service at Sublight. :-)

FWIW - we brought costumes and mostly didn't even wear them. We dressed up for muster onward the first night, and then quickly were sort of over it. None of us wore any costume pieces to Batuu, and only one of us was even vaguely star wars-y. Then only 1 or 2 of us (depending on what counts) dressed up after that.

While of course many people were in elaborate looks all weekend, some folks never were. It was totally fine. I would suggest you be comfortable. We did not feel out of place when not in costume. And, honestly, were slightly self conscious when we were.
