@HopperFan or anyone else going soon, please ask if they offer a TiW discount and please report back.
Hoping it does come back. We will have an AP, so that helps a little.
Went tonight. Said no to TiW, yes to AP and DVC. So 10% off was it. Maybe later they will add it back in.
We arrived way early so after wandering the hotel and outside I just attempted to check in early at 4:15 for a 4:45 ADR. No problem and we were seated immediately. I think we hit the jackpot with the corner window table overlooking waterfall and clear view of Queen. I loved the spinning tree in the middle of the table for the small dishes. They really did a good job of transforming the restaurant while keeping it classy.
Our server was excellent start to finish. I know some have not been happy with attitude or service but couldn't have been happier. She truly seemed to be enjoying the experience.
Appetizers: We liked them all. I think the sauce for the pie was a perfect compliment, the shrimp tasted fresh (I usually avoid seafood other than on coast) with an interesting flavor and the soup was delicious. I WANT one of the mini cast iron pots, on the hunt now.
Entrees: I should have listened to folks about
prime rib. It was very fatty and a struggle to cut. A real struggle. Prime rib should cut easily. Luckily it was huge so even taking out the fat trim there was plenty to eat. I would not order again. The potatoes ... I forgot to switch and my potato loving guy didn't finish them. Popover I tried, good. I had the
veal shank and it was delicious. I was very surprised by all the layers of flavor. While stacked each item had a distinct flavor and the winter greens were the biggest surprise, I can't even describe the marinade they had.
Desserts: SWEET SWEET. Clever themes, loved they were all very different. Apple was my favorite, had more a cheesecake taste so less sweet. Couldn't finish the others just too much sugar. I LOVE caramel corn so that was welcomed and only took small bite of heart, just too much sugar after the other desserts.
Snow White was wonderful with DS and couldn't have been happier with interaction.
Dopey was such a delight and came twice to our table. He worked well with stress DS was having at that point.
Grumpy was perfect Grumpy and by then I had a Grumpy too.
Queen = perfection. She was stunning to look at and had it nailed.
All signed, Snow White kissed his book as well.
The Queen's backdrop was done well as it looks great in photographs.
Loved the colorful twinkling lights in the trees.
Downside for US:
We don't do character meals much anymore, been there - done that - none new ........ but of course this one we booked twice. It was LOUD. I didn't think about them doing an announcement for characters as they entered, playing segments of loud music and people singing. It was a bit intense for DS and add to that several small babies
screaming. Sound traveled quite well in there and he asked for headphones (on top of ear plugs) but it was still permeating. Something to be ready for. Now had we had a night time (dark) meal, it might have helped him if the room stays more dim (and if Mom didn't leave meds in car since at time he was so excited and happy to go in).
We were two and at a four top. But there were plenty of legit tables for two, and a solo diner next to us was at one. She seemed to have as much attention as all the other tables. I spoke to the podium on way out to give my compliments, said it was selling well and they even made them new fancy name tags so they are feeling a permanence.
