Suites or adjoining rooms

We are travelling back to vegas in 2014 with me, DH, DD (3.5yrs), DS (13months) and my mum.

Last time we shared a 2 bedroom suite at Mandalay Bay. It was AMAZING but very expensive. This time I don't think we can justify the cost.

I figure our other option is to stay somewhere with adjoining rooms and internal connecting doors. None of the hotel websites seem to advertise this.... but on trip advisor it seems they are around as people have had them...

so how do I find out about them and guarantee that we get one (without would be aweful)

TIA

The issue is that room types are never guaranteed. In some cases a hotel could even be overbooked (relying on cancellations) and might "walk" someone to another hotel.

The best option you have is to individually call the hotel before reserving and asking if the room type you're looking for has adjoining rooms. When you reserve, put it in any comments that you'd like rooms with adjoining doors. And finally when checking in, be sure to note your request again.

Other than that, you really really need to understand that room types are never guaranteed. I think you'll have a good chance of getting those adjoining rooms, but you really can't get such a room unless there are two rooms that are adjoining and empty at the same time. These large casino hotels have thousands of rooms that they're trying to get occupied and prepared for new guests all the time. Sometimes things come up such as guests extending their stays. I think you'll understand that they're trying hard to keep them occupied and then prepared for new guests, meeting special requests, and may come to a situation where two adjoining rooms with the bed types you want may not be available.

We stayed just of the strip behind Hooters at the Desert rose resort in a 2 bdrm apartment on both trips there it rates well on Trip advisor is a very short walk to the strip and very inexpensive we love it and if we were travelling through Vegas again it's where we would stay.

We stayed at the Marriott Chataue next to Planet hollywood with our kid. Got a great 2 bdr appartment prices aren't to bad. Can cross a small street and be in Miracle Mile mall and PH.
Has very small pool was only draw back.

I second this, this is the only place we stay. You even get free breakfast everyday. Very quiet and safe. Pool and Jacuzzi, full kitchen and BBQ area. Laundry.
