Taking Winnie on a Wonder Cruise - A February Mexican Riviera Trip - All wrapped up 6/14

You do indeed xx
D's an Americano guy also, I do enjoy them but will generally get a cappuccino.
I used to like cappuccinos but now I need more kick in my step.
Ya they did! Looks delicious!
::yes::
this looks good, but did it have raisins and nuts? I don't mind a few nuts, but I prefer cinnemon buns without raisins
I don't think so, she didn't eat it so not exactly sure. The original ones didn't have them.
Kinda berry-esk maybe?
I think so, I did have a bite of it. Pam's Mom loved it!
Lol yup! original way sounds divine for me, as I do quite like hazelnut/fererro rocher type stuff
I'm not a fan of hazelnut.
that's been on around here lately as well
Interesting. I just wanted to watch it cause I didn't remember thebpkit so good. a FB group said thatift addressed race/class issues and I didn't catch that mynfirst time.
I don't think I knew about this on my Disney cruise, or was being too budget conscious, next time
They gauge you for the photos if you don't buy the package in advance. . It's not that bad if yiubnake it a mission to get photos I would have made her stand for photos every night if I could but I knew I wS pushing it with two nights
Nice smiles you two! This is a good one!
Thanks!! I think we got a couple good ones that I might be able to frame one!
Ohh like the dress!
Thanks! I took the tag off that night. Bought it before the pandemic.
I can't unsee quinoa now!! :rolleyes1
I couldn't unless quinoa as soon as I saw the 1sr photo.
I'm always one to make use of walking bevies as well 👍
:thumbsup2
I was going to be surprised if you didn't get these!
A classic

And was it good? Looks pretty tasty
::yes::
I'm glad Winnie behaved sounds like for the change!
Yeah; Fran called him untrustworthy yesterday.
I feel like we got different chocolates on our cruise?
Probably
Awesome update, good food and good company 👌
:thumbsup2

This is good planning. I approve. :thumbsup2
:thumbsup2
No way! How thrilled you both must have been, especially Fran. :)
I think she was rather pleased.
That looks soooo good!
::yes::
Had to look that up. Never heard of it. But I had heard of zabaglione.
I think same things, different languages.
Looks really good, too.
::yes::
But glad it got corrected. :)
Evidently I don't hide displeasure well! :lmao:
Oh dear. The horror!
And I'd probably feel the same way.
It's a good sad feeling to have.
Still haven't seen it. Nor in a rush to.
I'm glad I've seen it, but I'm not in a hurry to see it again with Fran.
Oh, Lord. I don't know how I'd be able to do that after that amazing lunch.
Obviously I couldn't.
::yes:: I get that. I didn't get any photos, but... I do get that.
Getting photos are one my fun things about the cruises.
But really like this shot of the two of you. Easily my fave. :)
I need to pick one and frame it.
Erm... yeah... that just looks... odd...
Can't unsee the quinoa.
Nice. Either we didn't have anything like that on my cruise or I just flat out missed it. Or it was an extra that I didn't pay for or know about.
This wasn't extra, you just needed to be in the public spaces before dinner. Mainly the Grand Hall or theatre area. On past cruises I've hit the characters before the 1st dinner seating, then done the backgrounds while the photographers are still out during 1st dinner. Then done it all again when everyone comes out for the second dinner seating. Fran just didn’t have the stamina to do that this trip.
There it is. I was gonna be pretty impressed if you were able to eat another big meal.
Yeah, I just ate way too much in the morning. While I did eat way more on the ship than I do at home, I didn't eat that much again.
Not surprised. I know when I'm full, food doesn't appeal.
I went more to see our friends and the "show".
That sounds like something I'd really like. Sure looks tasty.
It was and you could say it was a "fruit salad". :rotfl2:
Huh. Maybe some day I'll see it. :)
I really love the Disney ships, so many neat little nuances.
I do remember you mentioning that... And yes, I can see how it'd encourage you to be quick.
Yes. Winnie can be....unpredictable. That's putting it nicely.
I like that one! Clever. :)
She made us some cute ones!
Please tell me it's "rest".
I'll let you decide if it's considered rest. ;)

Your DH is a plant?!?!?

HOW COOL IS THAT?!?!?!

SwampThing1-H-2020-1607122086.jpg

:crazy2:

Feel free to come and smell the roses here.
I've given up trying to get any meals ready for him.

I just feed him ice water. :duck:

Sure! What’s for dinner??

Something plant based??????

:rotfl2:

:lmao:

Sorry to hijack your thread, Alison! pirate:
You two are funny! The late night crowd! :rotfl2:

Day 3

Today I slept better than the night before. Though I woke up once for my own bio break, Fran didn't wake me up again until 4:30AM, and after that quick potty stop she was fast asleep again. I was able to fall back asleep for a bit, and when she woke again at 6:30AM I realized that the sun was already up. Regardless, I wouldn't have been able to see the sunrise from my verandah. The angle of the ship was such that the forward port side of the ship could see the sunrise. Our cabin was starboard aft.

Shortly after, I went up to get coffee and hot chocolate. I love this little caddy that @Magical_Suitcase suggested. I used it every morning so far.

z23WC0227CD01.jpg

I picked up some pastries, and then went by the buffet for a little fruit and bacon. Back in the room we enjoyed this breakfast snack.

z23WC0227CD02.jpg

Then I watched us pull into Cabo harbor from my verandah. I saw a couple whales, and flying fishes.

See the flying fish jumping out of the water…..

z23WC0227CD11.JPG

Fran had wanted to go back up to the buffet together, but by the time we got around to thinking about it, the buffet would be closing in less than 45 minutes. She wasn't dressed or ready to go and she hates being that person who comes in at closing and gets the evil eye by staff who want to close everything up. So instead we decided to have lunch at Triton's. They would be opening at noon which was less than two hours away..she napped for a little longer.

I had laundry to do, so I started it washing and we planned on going down to lunch after I put it in the dryer. I believe at this point I started Star Wars: The Force Awakens on the TV.

We got her dressed and ready to go and I changed over the laundry. It was about 12:30 when we left the room. Or so I thought. When we got down to Triton's the doors were closed. Did we miss the lunch service? We wondered, and then the attendant told me that they would be opening in 15 minutes.

Evidently somehow when I set my phone forward I set it two hours forward instead of one. We could have actually gone to the buffet for breakfast, but oh well. After waiting several minutes in the corridor by the French Quarter Lounge, the attendants summoned us over when the restaurant opened.

z23WC0227CD12.jpg

We were seated close to the Handicapped entrance, and ordered promptly.

z23WC0227CD13.jpg

z23WC0227CD14.jpg

We got Beef Satay skewers, soup, salad, and the burger. We split everything.

z23WC0227CD15.jpg

Brunswick Stew

z23WC0227CD16.jpg

Cobb Salad

z23WC0227CD17.jpg

I give her all the avocado

z23WC0227CD18.jpg

Burger, our server cut in half for us before I could get a picture.

z23WC0227CD19.jpg

z23WC0227CD20.jpg

She had the Mickey Funnel Sundae with Kit Kat Chunks, vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and whipped cream.

z23WC0227CD21.jpg

I had the Warm Viennese Apple Strudel with Cinnamon Anglaise and Vanilla Ice Cream.

z23WC0227CD22.jpg

We were both stuffed, but not Palo Brunch stuffed, just nicely full.

I think same things, different languages.
I believe so.
Evidently I don't hide displeasure well! :lmao:
Oh dear!
I need to pick one and frame it.
Yes... that one.
It was and you could say it was a "fruit salad". :rotfl2:
So... good for you, then. ::yes::
Yes. Winnie can be....unpredictable. That's putting it nicely.
:rolleyes1

Today I slept better than the night before.
Good!
Regardless, I wouldn't have been able to see the sunrise from my verandah. The angle of the ship was such that the forward port side of the ship could see the sunrise. Our cabin was starboard aft.
Points off to the captain for not turning the ship around for you to see the sunrise. Bad form, sir.
I love this little caddy that @Magical_Suitcase suggested. I used it every morning so far.
What a good idea!
Back in the room we enjoyed this breakfast snack.
What are the two dusted... breads? cakes?
I saw a couple whales, and flying fishes.
No way! Cool! I've seen whales, but never flying fish.
That looks both somehow familiar and also very compelling.
See the flying fish jumping out of the water…..
Had to zoom in a bit, but... yes!
she hates being that person who comes in at closing and gets the evil eye by staff who want to close everything up.
Good for her. Most people (I think) wouldn't be that considerate.
I had laundry to do
Already?
Evidently somehow when I set my phone forward I set it two hours forward instead of one.
Whoops! Well, at least no major harm done.
We got Beef Satay skewers
How were they?
Brunswick Stew
That both looks and sounds interesting.
I give her all the avocado
 So... you're saying you're not a fan. (Yes, I already knew that.)
Burger, our server cut in half for us before I could get a picture.
The cad! How dare he!
She had the Mickey Funnel Sundae with Kit Kat Chunks, vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and whipped cream.
:faint:
I had the Warm Viennese Apple Strudel with Cinnamon Anglaise and Vanilla Ice Cream.
mmmmm...

Actually... can I have a bit of both desserts???

Great! Hope you got better sleep in nights to come.

Wow! It's awesome. Love it.

See the flying fish jumping out of the water…..

Nice catch!
I hope to see flying fish in your neck of the woods at some stage. Its on my bucket list. Until then, your image will have to do.

Evidently somehow when I set my phone forward I set it two hours forward instead of one.

Oh no!!!!
We could have had more food porn.

We were both stuffed, but not Palo Brunch stuffed, just nicely full.

Lovely looking meals.

Thanks for sharing. :)

Fran had ordered a cinnamon roll. Anyone who has seen our previous TRs knows that this is what she started her brunch with every time back when there was a buffet.
So she's getting back to normal!

This chocolate mousse checked all the boxes, gluten free, dairy free, tree nut free, vegetarian, is there anything else?
Flavor free?

Evidently the look on my face when she set down the plate with Hazelnut Ice Cream melting into my cake was priceless. Everyone at the table was laughing at the horror on my face!
Oh, the humanity!

Imagine her despair when she had one of these delicious cinnamon rolls, but couldn't eat it because she had downed nearly four glasses of Strawberry soup.
Does this count as first-world problems?

It was an OK movie. I thought the plot was pretty weird, and about ¾ the way through Fran started to text me through the app.
Yeah, I was underwhelmed with that movie too. Been underwhelmed with the MCU in general lately.

Then we got this one which didn't look so strange when we were standing in front of it, but now when I look at the pictures, it looks as though we are standing in a bowl of Quinoa!
 Nice photos, though.

On the way we both noticed a faint odor and I knew exactly what it was.
Uh oh.

As it was, we had been changing out the bag every night before dinner. This was our first time on the trip changing the base of the bag. I've become pretty quick with the bag changes. I have to, because Winnie is unpredictable and you never know when he is going to get "excited" so to speak.
At least you have the experience to deal with it now!

Hey, isn't that arch a famous one? Not that I remember the name or anything.

Evidently somehow when I set my phone forward I set it two hours forward instead of one.
Wow, you went forward in time! Do you have the lottery numbers for tomorrow?

I give her all the avocado
Good call. :crazy2: So overrated.

So... good for you, then. ::yes::
Of course! I read it on the internet!
Points off to the captain for not turning the ship around for you to see the sunrise. Bad form, sir.
Riiiiight!
What a good idea!
And it folds flat for the suitcase!
What are the two dusted... breads? cakes?
Those are little chocolate croissants.
No way! Cool! I've seen whales, but never flying fish.
They were jumping out of the water for a while, but it was hard to get a decent shot.
That looks both somehow familiar and also very compelling.
I think it's a famous landmark for Cabo San Lucas.
Good for her. Most people (I think) wouldn't be that considerate.
It's slightly annoying to me, but I understand having closed fast food restaurants in my early employment history.
Well I had planned to do laundry halfway through the trip and while I had plenty of clothing to wear, I somehow miscalculated on some of the essentials and I was going to run out the next day, so I decided to go ahead and do a couple loads since it was a port day and there were six washers/dryers on my floor.
Whoops! Well, at least no major harm done.
Except missing breakfast.
How were they?
They were really good! I had to get another thing of the peanut sauce thought.
That both looks and sounds interesting.
It was good. I wasn't sure what to expect.
The cad! How dare he!
:lmao:
Actually... can I have a bit of both desserts???
Yes. Yes you can. The servers will give you whatever you want. You could probably order only dessert if you wanted.

Ohhh this is rather slick!
went by the buffet for a little fruit and bacon

this is a happy little plate!
the bacon looks nicely cooked, yum to the watermelon- we haven't had any in ages as it just So expensive here right now, Costco wants $15+ for a watermelon!
are the stick ones rice krispie squares?
couple whales

humpback whales?

See the flying fish jumping out of the water…..

z23WC0227CD11.JPG
that looks like some sort of ray to me, big fish!
I love rays though
evidently somehow when I set my phone forward I set it two hours forward instead of one. We could have actually gone to the buffet for breakfast, but oh well.
oh well! I'm surprised your phone didn't correct the time for you, but who knows
these look a bit overdone? were they good? also 👌🍷
Cobb Salad

z23WC0227CD17.jpg
yummy yum yum! love these but so much work to make!
I give her all the avocado
I never used to be that keen on avocado, but I like it now. do you like guac?
We were both stuffed, but not Palo Brunch stuffed, just nicely full.
Nicely full is nice indeed 👍

Of course! I read it on the internet!
Makes it official
And it folds flat for the suitcase!
Perfect. :)
They were jumping out of the water for a while, but it was hard to get a decent shot.
I bet!
Well I had planned to do laundry halfway through the trip and while I had plenty of clothing to wear, I somehow miscalculated on some of the essentials and I was going to run out the next day, so I decided to go ahead and do a couple loads since it was a port day and there were six washers/dryers on my floor.
Ohhh. Makes sense then.
Yes. Yes you can. The servers will give you whatever you want. You could probably order only dessert if you wanted.
Order. Only. Dessert.
:faint: :cloud9:

Great! Hope you got better sleep in nights to come.

Wow! It's awesome. Love it.
I don't even remember how long ago I bought it. It's been sitting in the fridge waiting for a cruise. In fact I started using it to carry things out to the car. Fran often likes two sodas for driving around, I have a water bottle. If it's early in the morning, I'll have a cup of coffee. Fill another slot with cell phones and it's quite handy.
Nice catch!
I hope to see flying fish in your neck of the woods at some stage. Its on my bucket list. Until then, your image will have to do.
Hope to see you in this neck of the woods sometime again! As much as I would like to come visit you, I don't see that happening any time soon. Fran has her sights set on Europe for our next international trip.
Oh no!!!!
We could have had more food porn.
:rotfl2: But then we may not have had any lunch!
Lovely looking meals.

Thanks for sharing. :)
Plenty more to come!

I love that caddy idea. We camp while exhibiting at our county fair and so many times I am trying to carry coffees, breakfast, phones, from the camper to the barn area. I need to add that to the camper supplies.

So she's getting back to normal!
Well, if it was completely normal she would have ordered that first. Now we know for next time.
Flavor free?
Yeah exactly.
Does this count as first-world problems?
I think this would be found in the dictionary if you looked up "first world problems."
Yeah, I was underwhelmed with that movie too. Been underwhelmed with the MCU in general lately.
I've liked some of them, but this one was just weird, but I have an idea where everything is going now.
 Nice photos, though.
Thanks! :thumbsup2
Uh oh.

At least you have the experience to deal with it now!
And no geysers!
Hey, isn't that arch a famous one? Not that I remember the name or anything.
That's exactly what I was thinking when I took the pictures!
Wow, you went forward in time! Do you have the lottery numbers for tomorrow?
I wish!
Good call. :crazy2: So overrated.
It's OK in guacamole, but otherwise not so much.

Hope to see you in this neck of the woods sometime again! As much as I would like to come visit you, I don't see that happening any time soon. Fran has her sights set on Europe for our next international trip.

I'll have to see. We still have a few home improvements to go.
At this stage, DS is hoping for Japan.

Ohhh this is rather slick!
I can't take credit for it someone else clued me in.
this is a happy little plate!
the bacon looks nicely cooked, yum to the watermelon- we haven't had any in ages as it just So expensive here right now, Costco wants $15+ for a watermelon!
are the stick ones rice krispie squares?
I guess we're lucky. They have precut watermelon (and other fruit) in the grocery stores for a decent price. And yes the ones with the sticks are rice krispie treats.
humpback whales?
No idea. I mostly saw the puffs of them breathing and some tails.
that looks like some sort of ray to me, big fish!
I love rays though
I don't think they were rays. Those are mostly bottle dwellers. If I had to guess they were probably about a foot long or less.
oh well! I'm surprised your phone didn't correct the time for you, but who knows
I turned off the function to automatically detect the time. My phone was on airplane mode.
these look a bit overdone? were they good? also 👌🍷
They were good! I ate all of mine. Fran only ate half of hers. I thought we should split an order but she got one for each of us.
yummy yum yum! love these but so much work to make!
I'll make them at home, but you're right. There are a lot of components involved. I order it out more often than I make it at home.
I never used to be that keen on avocado, but I like it now. do you like guac?
I like guacamole, but there are lots of other flavors mixed in there. At Tortilla Jo's we like to order their tableside guacamole. I wonder if that is back again?
Nicely full is nice indeed 👍
I have a feeling that we will be more than nicely full at our upcoming feast.

Order. Only. Dessert.
:faint: :cloud9:

On the ships with Palo and a second adult specialty restaurant the specialty restaurant offers a mid day dessert sampler option where you get about six desserts and optional beverage pairings. Of course this is by reservation only and extra $'s.

I love that caddy idea. We camp while exhibiting at our county fair and so many times I am trying to carry coffees, breakfast, phones, from the camper to the barn area. I need to add that to the camper supplies.
I believe that we got it on Amazon and was fairly reasonably priced!

I'll have to see. We still have a few home improvements to go.
At this stage, DS is hoping for Japan.

Since when does your DS pick vacation destinations? :rotfl2: Isn't he old enough to go on his own? Just kidding. He is a University now, right? Japan would be fun too. We've looked there as well.
