Well here we are and it's Thanksgiving Day. We have already decided that we are not going to go to a park today, heard they were all crowded and from seeing the crowds already.
We go downstairs and meet Stan, he does the Lodge tours. The 2hr. tour is very informative. The same tour will be given in the afternoon. They suspend the food tour during the Holiday season, since the restraunts get too crowded.
We start out in the lobby with Stan pointing out the real wood, disney wood and the history of the building of the lodge. Very interesting. We move to the springs inside the lobby and learn of Disney steam. We then move out side to Silver Creek falls and learn of their path. We next move to Fire Rock Geyser and learn of the water shortage. Stan points out the various trees, Bald Cypress. He then shows us the Sand Paper tree, cool. We then go back inside (here a few of the group leave, they have reservations someplace. We go up to the 7th floor. DW stays away from the railings, fear of height. But we see the various animals on the post. This is a very good tour. Thanks Stan.
We had Thanksgiving Dinner reservations for 1 pm at Whispering Canyon and they sit us out back next to the fire place. This is nice and quiet and relaxing. Good server. Good food, turkey, ham mashed potatoes (they had lumps, must have been real mashed potatoes) gravy, yams, green beans and carrots, all we could eat. Dessert was little pumpkin or peacan tarts. Just OK. The warm apple pie with ice cream we had the day before for dessert was better.
Went back to the room and phoned the family. All are well with DW's family in VA.
We then decided to do the Mini golf. Got the car and drove to Fantasia. We did the pitch and put course. Rude family with 6 people before us, would not let us "play through", so we just passed them. I guess they probably thought we were rude at that point.
Drove over to the Boardwalk and had supper at ESPN club, watch the Cowboys get hammered.
Tonight is the first night of the Osborne lights at MGM, so we decide to drive over there and see them. There is a Disney bus broken down in the middle of the intersection. Lights are great, it is still cold, and we are still wearing long pants and sweatshirts all day and all night.
Hope everyone else had an enjoyable Thanksgiving.
Tomorrow is Day 4 and our CP with Dinner at Canada.
