triple split- SSR, BWV and HHI...updated today 8/23

Day 5- Epcot day, yay!!!

Did FP+ (mom and I did 2/3) and walked through Living Seas (love this...manatees). When we came out of Living Seas, DDs ran off to WS to eat lunch at Tangierine Cafe and mom and I were going to slowly make our way to WS and decide where to eat (I was wanting nachos in Mexico) but as we were starting our trek a storm rolled in fast so I got on app and tried to make ADR at Coral Reef (as we were right there) but the app wouldn't work so we walked in and got seated in 10 minutes, right by the tank.

When we left the storm had quieted but as we were slowly walking towards WS it began to pour so we ducked into a pin kiosk

Our last night at WDW we watched Illuminations and here are a few pics (all my pics were taken with my Samsung Note II and aren't that great).

Pros and cons:
BWV- we checked in at 10 am and our studio wasn't ready until 2:30pm. We left our stuff in the car that was parked a mile away in the lot and I had cold stuff in cooler but the ice had melted by the time we got it to our room. We got room #1085...I think. It was first floor and right directly across from door to clown pool's hot tub area...smoking area right there too and ice machine next door. Was a little noisy of a location and room also seemed to be HA room with shallow tub and fixtures all low. We also noticed the age of this room...AC thermostat was antiquated slide cold to warm (no temperature) and bathroom tile needs replacing but I was still pleased with the room....especially when the location came into play. We could walk out that door to the pool and shoot through to the BW and over to Epcot...also could go out and left to walk to HS. Great! But my mom didn't like those walks....she didn't even like walking from the bus to MK the 1st day so I knew we had a problem. But my immediate family can do very well with the BWV location and we are glad to own there....wish ALL our points were there.

Meals-
Beaches and Cream- resort switch day we did 11.05 lunch here...just like the first time we went, it was delish. We ALL enjoyed this meal and the ice cream. One of our faves. Service was pretty good here.

Mama Melrose- waited 20 minutes past ADR to be seated and again saw many empty tables. Food and service was decent. My mom really enjoyed this place...she claims to love Italian food but really just likes American-ish Italian and basically just spaghetti. This place hit the mark for her and my DDs, who aren't big on red sauces, really liked the Alfredo type pasta they got.

Coral Reef- my mom and I walked in for lunch here because my girls were off in WS for lunch at Tangerine Cafe and I KNEW my mom would NOT like that so we strolled around Land and we planned to stroll over to WS to find a CS that she would like when a big storm hit us and I suggested we duck into Coral Reef and see if we could eat there. We were seated right at the tank and had a nice lunch. Not my fave meal and it was pricey so we shared an app and the seafood pasta. It was okay. The atmosphere was the best part. Our server was excellent here too.

Akershus dinner- One DD picked it and we dressed up for nice picture. We were the only ones dressed up and my tomboy DD was quite ticked about that...lol. We checked in and told to stand in ropes and scoot all the way forward to wait to be called...cattle call again...and too hot for this. We waited 10 minutes and had picture taken and then seated. I got braised ribs and they were very good. We all liked the buffet but one DD got mushroom stuffed pasta and hated it. This was pricey and my girls were not into seeing the princesses so we could skip this place. We did get a nice photo. The server here was new and she was excellent as well.

Bad behavior- saw it all on this trip and never saw this stuff before...only read about it on the boards. Saw a kid peeing in a bottle while in line for It's a Small World and there was a CM standing there allowing it...it held up the line too as they couldn't move until the little darling was done. Also saw a mom smack her kid pretty good on the bus to SSR. We had waited, with this family, for a bus and it was a long wait. This family was 2 ladies with several kids and tons of bags from shopping and 2 strollers. The ladies seemed at the end of their ropes and kept shouting at the kids and threatened to smack the $#!+ out of them. Well...on the bus one of the ladies did just that. Jaw dropping. Then, the grand finale was watching a 20-something girl, who was drunk, throw up in the bushes in Epcot at Norway...outside of Maelstrom. Classy stuff.

MB and FP+ and MDE- MB all worked great. We had 2 for this trip and I brought our old ones and they all worked. We had no issues except for trying to get 4th FP or change times...nothing was available. Also at MK...my DDs rode all 3 FP rides while my mom and I only did 2 but the time had passed and we tried to get 4th FP and could not. CM told us that we actually had to ride all 3...but my mom wasn't even showing in our party and that same CM...at FP indoor station when you come into MK....said I had to go to CS to link her. I had her linked and FP selections were made at 60 days out and she used them with no issues...why link her again. We just gave up. Also had trouble getting app up...was slow and error messaged a lot. Tried to get ADR for Coral Reef but it would not go through so we just walked in.

Next up...checking out of BWV and driving to HHI for 4 night stay (where the fellas will meet us)...

We left BWV around 8:20 and the guys left MD around 4am. They beat us to HHI by about 15 minutes. We got there around 2:30. Our room was not ready so we took mom and her BF over to get into their condo. They got in and settled and we got text that our room was ready (room # 2521). DH drove over since the car was loaded up with our bags from my mom's car. The teens and I walked over dragging the cooler. It was a long hot walk while I was tired and sore from WDW. We get over and NONE of our keys work so we sit in the sun while DH drives back to desk to get them fixed. He gets back and we realize our Outback doesn't fit well in the parking spaces right by our building...and we notice that a lot of folks drive down and park there to go to pool (if their building is far away)....also noticed, later in the week, that the marina boat folks park there to get to their boats (how do they get access to the Disney resort???). We lug all our stuff from down the parking lot and up to the 2nd floor.

We were in 2BR in building 25...with balcony overlooking pool...specifically slide. It was a loud location but it didn't bother me too much as it was from 8am to 10pm and we were up and about those hours anyway. The 17 year olds were disturbed from their beauty sleep that is typically until 11 or 12 or 1. And DH had to work one day and was irked by all the pool noise (screaming kids). My mom was in Shelter Cove right by King Neptune statue...2nd building in. I should have asked to be near check in building but I thought the teens would be over at pool...dock...firepit...counter service and all that stuff but they didn't really care about all that. The two 17 year olds were irked that we weren't on ocean and that it was not all commercialized like Ocean City MD....but I LOVED that it wasn't like that.

The room...beautifully redone...loved it. But the jets in the tub didn't work and the AC filter made leaf blower sound. I looked and the filter was filthy..probably having trouble moving air through. The front door had cracks that let hot air in as well so kids in living room, 17 year olds, were hot while rest of us were freezing with thermostat set at 69. But I loved it there...the island is just so nice and peaceful and the resort was quaint and nice.

Ate at Scotts Fish Market in Shelter Cove...was okay. Also ate at Frosty Frog in Coligny...was okay food but loved the drinks and not bad prices. Kids went to movie one night while us 4 adults ate at Frankie Bones....omg, that was really good. And breakfast at Stacks, one morning with my mom while others were fishing, was yummy. We went to the Salty Dog in Sea Pines the last night...DH picked it. We enjoyed the food but I LOVED that area...the drive in and all those beautiful homes. Neat little shops there by the Salty Dog...outside bar and live music. Now I know where my dream home would be.

DH and my mom's BF took DDs (17 year olds were supposed to go too but they couldn't get up that early) on fishing charter and caught several sharks, 2 bluefish and a stingray. They has a blast!!! Recommend fishing charter...Bulldog Charters docked near the Chart House. They were great...my DH said...worth every penny.

DS and his GF also played night time miniature golf the last night at Pirates something near the resort. They also ate at IHOP after the movie...we dropped them off there. We shopped at Coligny and at Shelter Cove. My mom and her BF ate lunch at the Italian place in Shelter Cove and really liked it...they said. Some of us ate lunch at Beach House counter and some ate at pool counter. It was okay...pretty expensive and service at the Beach House counter was iffy at times. The Dole Whip twist was soooo yummy. Me and mom and the 4 teens all got refillable mugs while the men just drank lots of beer.

I cancelled the 5th night since my mom was leaving after 4 nights and we needed to put kids in her car...plus I wanted to get my doggy from the kennel as my other sweet dog with lymphoma had to be put to sleep the morning I left with my girls for WDW...after a horrible awful night for her. I was sad for my other little guy who DH said was missing her and me while I was at WDW. Now we have 41 holding points to use before Aug 1. Not sure what the heck we'll do with those. The drive home was fine...9 hours of driving took us 11 hours with stops while caravaning with my mom. DH was not liking HH at first but by the end he too, like me, was in love. DS-17 still doesn't want to go back. DDs are pretty easy going and agreeable so they are game for anything...just DS is high maintenance .

Pics next...

Looks like a pretty good trip to me! (There are no perfect trips - ha) Cute girls. You made good choices at HH. We have some friends who might as well buy stock in the Frosty Frog - and I don't think it's eating they do there. We love HH - so much that we bought a townhouse in Sea Pines. We blame those expenses on Disney for drawing us to HHead in the first place... Lastly, I'm really sorry about your doggie. They are hard to lose. Enjoyed your TR!

Thanks!!
You have a townhouse in Sea Pines???? Oh, how wonderful. It is a beautiful community. DH and I were looking at the real estate books. Maybe in 3 years, when the kids are out of HS.

Nice trip report! I have to say that I am in shock about that boy's behavior at IASW. :scared1: :sad2:  I have never heard of that happening. I cannot believe a cast member allowed it! I would have been very angry. What are people thinking?! Step out of line, take your little boy to the bathroom, and come back after. IASW will still be there when you get back. Let's all be considerate of others, please. This is not the wilderness.

Otherwise, I especially appreciated your photo of the ice cream at B&C. Yummy. I have my first ADR there ever in a few months. Cannot wait. :)

We were shocked by the bottle thing too. I saw the line moving next to us and there was a stoppage and I was wondering why the line stopped and glanced back to see boy, about 6, standing there and mom was squatting and holding a bottle and he was going. There was a CM standing there beside them. The line held up until the boy finished and mom carried that bottle all through the line. Not sure where it ended up...probably on the floor of her IASW boat. And the wait was only about 15 minutes, so yes she could have gotten out of line to take him to the restroom.

B&C is delish...one of my faves. I have it on my list for next Aug. You will enjoy it!!!
