now that I have two UY, it IS more complicated. Today I had to modify my June trip to accommodate snow make up days. Stupid snow
I have a 1 bdrm booked for missing dates plus WL for desired 2 bdrm. These I booked separately as to increase success of WL. Is this the way?

You need to be willing to move between the 1BR and 2BR if not all the waitlists fill when you do it that way.
