We went to Universal Orlando last year and will be in LA this summer. Is it any different in LA?

Not nearly as good. It's tiny, only about 8 major attractions, and most of them are of the simulator style. Also I'm pretty sure it's all attractions they have in Florida, but that may not be right. The only cooler thing is the backlot tour which actually takes you by locations where they are currently actually filming.

The main difference between Hollywood and Orlando is that Universal Hollywood is an actual working studio, and the studio takes precedence over the theme park. The studio tour in Hollywood is very cool. However, the park is much smaller and has many of the same attractions as Universal Orlando. It is very nice but IMO it will be a letdown after Orlando. You could also take studio tours at Warner Bros, Paramount, and Sony, which are cheaper than a Universal ticket and the actual tours there longer.

Also, Orlando has 2 parks, a waterpark, and 3 resort hotels. Hollywood only has the one park.

Yes, all the attractions here are duplicates of the ones in Orlando, other than the studio tour. It's really cool, but if you've been to the Orlando parks probably not worth the money.
