UGH! After our first FP+ trip to WDW, we went to DLR and appreciated our DLR trip so much more because we had so much more flexibility and were not constantly connected to our smart phone either. Since then we have been back to WDW for our 2nd FP+ trip, and that whole trip we kept talking about how nice it was that we could go back to DLR and not have to deal with FP+. It did make the standby lines significantly longer for rides that traditionally were not FP+ lines. At WDW we were used to walking on Small World, POTC, Figment, and Nemo almost any time of the day, and with FP+ we found 25 to 30 minute lines at those attractions instead. It also caused the single rider lines to increase because of tiering in 2 of the parks ( At Epcot with your initial 3 allotted FP+ you can only get a FP+ for Soarin or Test Track, but not both. You can only get a 4th FP+ after you have used your first 3, and by then Soarin and TT are not available. It is the same at DHS with Toy Story Mania and Rock N Roller Coaster).
The Magicbands themselves are nice, it is FP+ that is a nightmare. I had really hoped that because DL has an entirely different dynamic than WDW- with all the day guests and regular AP holders, we might avoid MBs and FP+ there. I don't know how they make it workable with the number of day guests they have in the park.
I don't see them implementing MBs just for those staying on property as I don't see how that would be a worthwhile proposition for DL, as it has such a large number of off property guests. I don't see how they implement the 60 day in advance for onsite and 30 day in advance for offsite guests for FP+ booking, with the large number of day guests either. I'm guessing one aspect of this is the ability to make revenue off MB sales. FP+ totally replaces FP. So, if you want any FPs at all and you aren't staying on property, then you have to buy a MB at about $15 (that is assuming you don't decide to buy one of their special edition/limited edition magic bands which they roll out here and there for $29.95). Then that battery is only good for a year or two and is not replaceable, so you have to keep buying MBs. I think they will probably still have the 60 and 30 days, but the FP+ will probably not fill up as fast as at WDW. It will probably be something like dining reservations. They can be impossible to get for some WDW restaurants if you do not book them months in advance, but not too hard at all to get at the last minute at DL.
So not looking forward to this! DL was our place to get away from FP+ and have a more relaxed vacation!
